Old Reports - Under 11s (Division 1)

Pinhoe 1 - 3 Dawlish

The Dawlish boys started the match focused and determined and within minutes of kick off the first goal was scored by Corie Cleave. Dawlish were well organised and played well as a team and supported each other.

The Dawlish defence of Sam Wright, Cody Rackley and man of the match Nick Langley-Pope worked hard and communicated well to prevent Pinhoe from getting a goal during the first half.

Some fine passing and link up play from Tommy Saint and Max Armitage resulted in a near miss by Matty Ranger falling inches passed the left hand post. Pinhoe started to put pressure on Dawlish's midfielders and they responded with some long passing play that worked well and lead to another great finish from Corie Cleave who was supported by Max Armitage.

With both teams keeping the pressure up, Jack Arnold showed some great interception play and with Dawlish running well with ball at every opportunity they were once again rewarded with an excellent strike from Jack Wills taking the score to 3-0. As always Harvey Hannaford protected his goal throughout the match, but in the closing moments Pinhoe managed to get the goal they deserved making it a 3-1 win for Dawlish.

Alphas - Matchday Report

Alphington Jets 2 - Exwick 0 Under 11's Division 1

On a beautiful day for football both teams worked hard on a firm pitch. It was Alphington who got the early goal with Charlie Ewart scoring from a re-bound after an excellent cross from the left wing by Dan Prout. Exwick pushed forward with many chances to find the equaliser but Alphington's stand in keeper Will Bentley was in fine form Exwick just couldn't find the net.

In the second half it was pretty much all pressure from Exwick but with Olly Johnson, Charlie Khan, Dan Prout and Charlie Hart commanding the midfield Alphington didn't look like conceding. The back three of Luke Bradford, Ben Clancy Mitchell and Ben Rooke were in awesome form and it was Alphington in the final minute of the game with Bradley Wilkie slotting calmly into the bottom corner after another excellent cross from Dan Prout.

Well done to both teams for a game played in the right spirit.

Alphas - Matchday Report

On a very heavy pitch Alphington Jets took the game to Central with two early goals from Charlie Khan and Olly Johnson, first half stand in keeper Ben Clancy Mitchell was barely troubled. As Central pushed forward Olly Johnson grabbed his second of the game just before half time to make it 3 - 0.

William Bentley then took the goalkeepers jersey for the second half, with Central not letting the 3-0 score line affect their game they stepped up the pressure but it was Olly Johnson again for the second week in a row scoring four goals in a game with goals 4 and 6 with Dan Prout sandwiched between scoring the 5th. As Jets pushed forward Central grabbed a consolation goal through William Johns late on in the game from close range.

For the Jets Ben Rooke, George Hunt and Joe Holmes produced a fine display at the back, Charlie Hart forming part of a dominant midfield and Charlie Ewart working hard up front. Well done to both teams in a game played in the right spirit.

Final score 6 - 1 to the Alphas

Man of the Match: George Hunt

St Martins 2 v 5 Dawlish United

Some resolute defending from Jack Arnold, Nick Langley-Pope and Sam Wright and in particular some fine goalkeeping from Harvey Hannaford in the opening minutes of the game, gave Dawlish the foundation to build a fine team performance.

Excellent work from Jack Wills set up his strike partner Corie Cleave for two well taken goals in quick succession which swung the game in the visitors favour. However, it took an excellent goal line header from Jamie Middleton to keep the home side at bay. As the half wore on Dawlish grew in confidence with some fine passing moves putting the hosts on the back foot.

Cleave was looking hungry for his hat-trick and nearly grabbed it with a header from a pinpoint Matty Ranger corner. Further corners from Ranger caused panic in the home defence but the chances went begging. Middleton came close to increasing the lead on a couple of occasions. The hardworking Arnold broke down the right and was unlucky to see his effort just go wide and further long range efforts from Max Armitage and Cleave went close as Dawlish tried to capitalise on their superiority before the break.

St Martins started the second half strongly and were rewarded when Dawlish failed to clear a corner; the ball was drilled back into the United area and was deflected past the stranded Hannaford in goal. St Martins now had their tails up and were pushing for an equaliser but a stunning Arnold volley restored the two goal advantage. It didn't last long as the home side fought hard to stay in the match and they reduced the deficit in spectacular fashion with a long range shot into the top corner of the net.

Dawlish take great credit for the way they held firm and gradually imposed themselves on the remainder of the match as they clinched victory in style. A thunderous volley from Armitage and a clinical finish from Man of the Match Cleave completed the scoring although Wright was required to make a last ditch goal line clearance with the last kick of the game.

Crediton 2 - 1 Dawlish United

Both teams started the game well, with neither team dominating possession in the first half. Crediton had an early chance to take the lead when a well placed pass left a Crediton forward one on one with United's keeper. Harvey Hannaford did well to come off his line and clear the ball to safety.

Sam Wright, Nathan Rowland, and man of the match Nick Langley Pope put in a solid performance in defence, dealing well with Crediton crosses and attacks through the centre. Dawlish were unlucky not to take the lead on a couple of occasions, Luke Morgan saw a well hit shot just creep wide of the Crediton post, and Max Armitage was unlucky to see his long range shot go over the bar.

Crediton continued to defend well, making it difficult for United to break the deadlock. Crediton had a chance to take the lead, when a great run down the left by Crediton's number 10, saw him cross the ball into the path of a forward who was unfortunate to see his shot slip wide of the post. Before the whistle was blown for half time a late chance for United came after some good build up play, Tommy Saint had a clear shot on goal which he hit well, but straight at the keeper.

Second half started and it wasn't long before Crediton took the lead, a pass out to the left saw Crediton's winger turn and hit a long range shot which landed in the top hand corner of the goal. Dawlish continued to battle and worked hard to get back into the game. A fine cross from Jack Arnold was received by Jamie Middleton who hit the ball wide of the post.

United were soon rewarded for their persistence when Jamie Middleton made some good ground through the middle of the field, passed to Corie Cleave who laid the ball off to Jack Wills who knocked the ball into the back of the net, to give Dawlish a much deserved equaliser.

Both teams continued to work hard, both creating some good chances, Dawlish Keeper was forced to make a couple of good saves, and United's strike force continued to pressurise the Crediton defence, but it was Crediton who scored the winner. A ball into the centre of united box was not dealt with by United's defence, and a goal mouth scramble resulted in Crediton knocking the ball in the net to make it 2-1.

ST MARTINS 3 - 6 ALPHINGTON JETS

St Martins took the lead against the run of play when Elliot Kearle cut in from the right and smashed home from 12 yards with his left foot. Agreat move involving the industrious Charli Khan and Olly Johnson put in Will Bentley down the right, who lobbed the keeper. Both keepers were now busy. St Martins took the lead when Anthony Gayner poked home from a well taken corner. Straight from the kick off, the Olly Johnson show commenced, Olly beat one and shot from the halfway line leaving the keeper with no chance. Two minutes later he did it again.

St Martins were now finding it hard to break down the Jets, captain Ben Rooke, George Hunt and Joe Holmes were all in great form. Ben Clancy continued his excellent form in this game. After the break, Olly completed his hatrick with another fine goal. Subs Dan Prout, Luke Bradford, Bradley Wilkie and Charlie Hart all looked lively. The move of the match saw CK set up Dan who crossed for Will to cooly slot home his 2nd. Olly hit number 4 when he dribbled past 3 defenders and slotted in the corner. St Martins were denied by some great saves by Jack in goal, before Cameron Robertson rifled home from the edge of the area.

MAN OF THE MATCH OLLY JOHNSON

Dawlish United 6 - 0 Central City

Dawlish United were determined to bounce back after last week's disappointing game. United kicked off and Tommy Saint saw an early great strike saved by Central City's keeper. Central responded with some good moves which Dawlish denied. The first goal came from a cross, Nathan Rowland headed onto Luke Morgan who turned and half volleyed it into the corner. Minutes later it was Morgan again with another shot, from a cross by Matty Ranger, but unluckily it went just wide.

The United boys were now putting together some outstanding passes, and had a few attempts. Nick Langley-Pope had a great strike from the half way line which skimmed the cross bar.

The second goal came from a corner, taken by Corie Cleave who had been showing some great passes, his corner hit a defender on the knee, an own goal. It was very unfortunate for Central City, but this boosted United's confidence. However, Central came back and their striker saw his opportunity saved by keeper Harvey Hannaford.

In the second half there were a few changes, with Max Armitage and Matty Ranger back on. Within seconds, Max Armitage saw his great strike going top corner but the keeper managed to punch it over. The corner was then well defended by Central City, who kicked the ball up to the other end of the pitch, setting their player up, who got past Harvey Hannaford, luckily Cody Rackley got in there just in time to save the ball from going in.

Jack Wills, who had had a great game so far, took a shot which Corie Cleave got a touch on and managed to score. Minutes later United were 4-0 up from an amazing shot from man of the match, Jack Wills going into the top right corner. United' fifth came from with a great individual effort from Jamie Middleton.

With the Dawlish lads now feeling confident, Harvey Hannaford came out of goal for the closing moments with Luke Morgan going in goal. Matty Ranger was unlucky not to score. With just minutes to go, Jamie Middleton takes a good strike which goes in, 6-0.

Overall a great game, both sides played exceptionally well, keep up the good work Dawlish and Central.

ALPHINGTON JETS 1 - 6 SIDMOUTH UNDER 11'S

Alphington Jets came up against the league leaders on a beautiful day for football. The Jets took the game to Sidmouth and were the better side for the first 20 minutes. Charlie Khan and Ben Clancy Mitchell were dominant in central midfield with Charlie Ewart and Dan Prout going close before Charlie rifled home from the penalty spot. Captain Ben Rooke marshalled his defence of George Hunt and Joe Holmes impeccably, before Sidmouth came back strongly and got a deserved equaliser when Charlie Freeman drilled home the rebound after a fine save form Jack Bunclark.

After half time Sidmouth took control and dominated a disjointed Jets. Further goals from the speedy Roel Ruigrock,Freddie King,Jonnie Dunne x 2 and another from Charlie Freeman ensured a comfortable victory for Sidmouth. Will Bentley went close for the Jets in the latter stages. Luke Bradford, Bradley Wilkie, Tony Hutchins and Charlie Hart all came on and tried their best against a very strong, Sidmouth side.

NEWTON ABBOT 4 - 3 ALPHINGTON JETS

Alphington Jets were totally outplayed in the first half against an excellent Newton side that played some great football. Newton applied all the early pressure, but Alphington took the lead when, the hard working Charlie Khan robbed the defender and saw his cross/shot fly off a defender over the keepers head. Newton equalised 2 minutes later when Owen Smea side footed home whilst the defence were hesitating. Matt Finlake and James Wright both drilled shots into the top corner, that keeper Jack Bunclark could only watch and admire. The second half started the same way and Newton deservedly went 4-1 up when Brandon Stent cooly slotted home from 8 yards. The Jets then had their best period of play when Olly Johnson just shot wide, before Tony Hutchins fired home from the edge of the box. Dan Prout made it 4-3 when he made no mistake when through 1 on 1. The game was now end to end with both teams coming close to further goals. Captain Ben Rooke was again excellent in defence for the Jets, with George,Bradley and Joe all supporting him well.

MAN OF THE MATCH BEN ROOKE

Exwick 8 v 1 Dawlish United

One of the last teams Dawlish would choose to play with two key players absent is Exwick and within five minutes, it was obvious why as the home team scored two early goals and completely dominated the opening period.

Stand in goalkeeper Nick Langley-Pope bravely tried to repel the onslaught as the makeshift defence in front of him battled against a high quality attack. Dawlish had conceded a third before Jack Wills gave the visitors a glimmer of hope with a neat finish following an excellent break by Jamie Middleton. However it was 4-1 before they created another opportunity, this time good work by Tommy Saint set up Middleton but his effort was comfortably saved.

Dawlish worked hard to try and get to grips with their opponents with Max Armitage in particular tackling strongly and covering every blade of grass, however as United started to push forward they left gaps in their defence and the home side grabbed a fifth just before half time as they broke through the middle.

To their credit Dawlish continued to battle in the second half with keeper Langley-Pope providing constant encouragement and his excellent kicking helped relieve the pressure.  Despite conceding a sixth from a corner United strived to reduce the deficit with Wills and Middleton both having long range efforts go wide. Man of the match Armitage continued his good work of the first half however it was not enough to deny the home side as they scored two late goals to complete the scoring and but for a fine save by Langley-Pope at the feet of an on rushing striker the score would have been worse.

Dawlish United 1 - 0 St Martins

Despite muddy conditions, both sides fought well with Dawlish being the stronger side during the first half. The Dawlish players showed some excellent team play with great long balls into the area from Matty Ranger, some nifty footwork from Max Armitage and some great team spirit from the rest of the players.

After an excellent ball crossed in by Matty Ranger, knocked on by hardworking Cody Rackley, Max Armitage put the ball in the back of the net! At half time, the home side were one goal up.

Second half, saw St Martin's come out fighting but with a great mid field partnership between Jack Arnold and Max Armitage, the visitors had their work cut out. After a good run, Jamie Middleton, helped by his fellow team members, was unlucky not to score.

Due to some good defensive play by Nathan Rowland, St Martin's were still unable to score. St Martin's were again denied a goal thanks to the solid defensive play by Man of the Match, Cody Rackley and Sam Wright.

After some determined play, St Martin's were awarded a penalty but without luck on their side, they blast the ball wide off the outside of the post.

Keeper, Harvey Hannaford saw little of the ball throughout the game only to be called upon a couple of times to make some comfortable saves.

Dawlish continued to play well to the finish and were rewarded with the victory they deserved.

ALPHINGTON JETS UNDER 11'S 3 - 1 TWYFORD

On a heavy pitch, both teams tried to play some good football. Twyford were dangerous from a few well delivered corners. Olly Johnson kept up his great form by forcing a good save from the Twyford keeper. Charlie Ewart hit the post for the Jets, before the lively Dan Prout curled one over the keeper after some good work from Charlie Khan. Another great pass from Charlie Khan set up man of the meatch Charlie Ewart to score the first of his brace to make it 2-0 at half time. The Jets defence of captain Ben Rooke, George Hunt and Bradley Wilkie kept Twyford at bay, with Ben Clancy again doing well in goal on his 2nd outing.

Will Bentley had a great run at the beginning of the second half. Twyford continued to play good football and were unlucky not to score, but 2nd half sub keeper Jack Bunclark was equal to anything thrown at him. The inclusion of Joe Holmes, Luke Bradford and Tony Hutchins led to a great passing move that Charlie Ewart cooly slotted home when in on goal. Charlie Hart came on to bolster the defence for the Jets. The last 10 minutes of the game resulted in Twyford's never say die attitude being well rewarded when Lewis Hill scored from 15 yards.

Man of the match CHARLIE EWART

Sidmouth 2 - 1 Dawlish

Dawlish started well against this unbeaten Sidmouth side. United started positively working hard to win and retain possession, and had the better of the first 5mins of the game, but It was Sidmouth who were to have the first goal opportunity when a Sidmouth left midfielder played a great cross in to the path of a unmarked striker on the back post. Luckily for United he was unable to connect, and the United defence watched in relief as the ball bobbled wide of the right hand post.

Jack Wills looked menacing up front holding the ball well as the midfield moved forward. Max Armitage battling well as usual in the centre, with support from Matt Ranger on the right and Jamie Middleton on the left. Sidmouth looked solid in defence and did well in marking Dawlish striker Jack Wills.

Jamie Middleton gave a good performance, and looked troubling to the Sidmouth defence carrying out some great runs down the left hand side of the pitch, with some great passing between him and Jack Wills. Sidmouth had a couple of opportunities from crosses, and were unlucky not to capitalise as the Dawlish defence continued to neglect their back post, but it was some great cover work from Sam Wright and Jamie Middleton which helped keep the ball out of the Dawlish net.

It was Dawlish who broke the dead lock when a volleyed clearance from Sam Wright saw the ball knocked back from the Sidmouth defender into the path of Max Armitage who controlled and hit a long range effort which caught the keeper of his line and saw the ball drop into the top of the net to give United the lead.

Dawlish did well to defend the lead for the rest of the second half with Cody Rackley, Luke Morgan and Jack Arnold battling and holding their ground well in defence. Matt Ranger tracked back well at one time placing the ball over his own goal with his head to deny the Sidmouth striker of a goal scoring opportunity

Second half saw some changes to the Dawlish line up but not to their attitude. They started as they did in the first half, but Sidmouth also picked up their game up. An early long range effort forced Harvey Hannaford to make a fine save as he tipped the ball wide of the right-hand post. Substitute Nathan Rowland kept up Luke Morgan's good work at right back as Sidmouth continued to apply the pressure.

A corner for Sidmouth nearly resulted in an equaliser when an unmarked striker had a free header on goal, which he was unlucky to see fly over the bar.

Eventually Sidmouth were rewarded for their persistence as a well placed pass from the midfield saw the Sidmouth striker 1 on 1 with the Dawlish keeper. The striker hit it well as ball flew past the keeper into the bottom left hand corner.

A couple of counters attacks from Dawlish in particular some good runs down the wings from both Jamie Middleton and Matt Ranger with support from Jack Wills, could have given united the winning goal, but they were continually denied by a well organised Sidmouth defence

Sidmouth continued to pressurise and eventually were to get there winning goal, as a well hit strike was finely saved by Harvey Hannaford but he was unable to keep hold of it and a Sidmouth player was able to push through to knock it into the back of the net.

Man of the Match - Sam Wright.

Thorverton 1 - 1 Alphington Jets under 11's

Due to both pitches being unplayable Thorverton and Alphington played on the crumb pitch at the university, thanks to some organising by Mike.

Thorverton started well and soon got into their attractive passing game with some excellent individuals. Stand in keeper Ben Clancy was soon brought into action and some great defending from Ben Rooke, George Hunt and Bradley Wilkie prevented Thorverton from taking a deserved lead. The Jets grew into the game, with Charlie Khan and Olly Johnson both having outstanding games. Both Dan Prout and Will Bentley started to see more of the ball on the wings. Luke Bradford forced a save out of the keeper after 20 minutes.

Alphington were lucky to go in 0-0 at half time. The second half started the same as the first with Thorverton playing some great football. Thorverton's 1st half goalie, turned 2nd half midfield maestro Sam Tobert scored a very well taken goal running half the length of the pitch. This seemed to bring the Jets into life and man of the match Olly Johnson was at his very best in the heart of the midfield, setting up Charlie Ewart to force a good save from the keeper. Alphington started to look more likely to score and did so when Olly beat three players before drilling home from 15 yards.

Both teams went close, Charlie Hart came on and made some great tackles for the Jets. Alphington nearly sneaked a winner when the gifted Olly dragged the ball back Brazilian like, leaving 2 defenders behind and hammered the ball just wide. This was another great game against Thorverton again played in the correct spirit. Well done to both teams.

MAN OF THE MATCH OLLY JOHNSON

Exeter Central 0 - 4 Dawlish United

Within minutes of the game kicking off Jack Wills scored with the help of a skilled pass from Tommy Saint. Max Armitage was unlucky not to score with a free kick from the out side the area. Sam Wright had a good effort from the outside which also went just wide. Harvey-Joe Hannaford saved a couple of good efforts from central during the 1st half. Jack Wills nearly added a second to his tally but was unlucky with a few near misses. Matthew Ranger scored United's second with a long range effort from the outside area.

United started the 2nd half well with Luke Morgan scoring with the help of Max and Jamie Middleton. Nick Langley-Pope replaced Harvey-Joe Hannaford who moved into an up front position. Jamie scored United's fourth with help from Harvey and Corie Cleave.

Dawlish United 1 - 2 Newton Abbot

After last weeks 5-1 defeat in the cup by the visitor's Newton 66, Dawlish wanted to show the scoreline wasn't a true reflection of the excitingly close fought cup tie, supporters of both teams were captivated by the standard of football that was played.

The game started with both sides having a series of opportunities with some fast flowing football, and despite Harvey Hannaford's string of amazing saves and some tight disciplined defending from Sam Wright and Nick Langley-Pope Newton 66 managed to score two goals. One of the goals coming after a super block save from Harvey Hannaford, unfortunately falling to the feet of the oncoming opposing forward, who blasted the ball home from close range. Dawlish never stopped fighting, and continued close link up play between Max Armitage and Cody Rackley producing some wonderful one touch football almost resulting in goals for Dawlish, only missing by the slightest of margins.

Man of the Match Jack Arnold, seemed on a mission to prove he is a valuable member of the Dawlish team and today he definitely did that, his tireless running making the opposition work twice as hard in the second half almost covering nearly every blade of grass. On the attack or in defence, Jack was almost always involved.

Dawlish pulled a goal back just after the break , and what a goal it was, Jamie Middleton showing great skill as he sailed passed the Newton defence scoring a stunning goal making it 2-1, spirits now high this game was anyone's for the taking Dawlish having more of the clear cut chances as the game was nearing its end, Middleton and Wills coming so close as they looked for the Dawlish equalizer, but after all there efforts it was not to be, Dawlish were beaten 2 - 1, but every player on the pitch today could walk away with heads held high, thoroughly entertaining football.

ALPHINGTON JETS 1 - 0 CREDITON SAINTS UNDER 11'S

Alphington Jets were dominant in the first half on a heavy pitch, against a Crediton Saints side missing several players. Charlie Ewart always looked threatening and was unlucky not to score on 3 separate occasions. Dan Prout sent in 3 excellent corners for the Jets causing problems for the Saints. The Crediton keeper was in great form and produced an excellent save from an Olly Johnson 20yarder. Charlie Khan went off injured and man of the match Will Bentley came on and brought another good save from the Saints keeper. Ben Clancy was again dominant in the centre of midfield for the Jets with the pace of Dan Prout always causing a problem. Jets Keeper Jack Bunclark had a quiet 1st half.

In the second half captain Ben Rooke again marshalled his defence of ever improving Joe Holmes and reliable George Hunt keeping Crediton at bay. The Jets deservedly opened the scoring when Will Bentley robbed the hesitant Crediton defence to set up Charlie Ewart, who smashed the ball home from 8 yards. Tony Hutchins, Charlie Khan, Luke Bradford and Charlie Hart came on for the Jets. Crediton had their best spell of the game and pressed for an equaliser. The Jets looked dangerous on the break with pacy Luke being well supported by Charlie Khan. Another good team performance from Alphington.

MAN OF THE MATCH WILL BENTLEY

Under 11s - Cup Quarter Final - Newton Abbot 66 5 - 1 Dawlish United

The match started with both teams playing confidently, but it was Newton 66 that had the first real chance shooting just wide of Harvey Hannaford's goal. They had another strike shortly afterwards that Harvey saved well.

Nick Langley-Pope, Nathan Rowland and Sam Wright all played well in Dawlish's defence to keep out Newton 66. Luke Morgan came close for Dawlish but his shot was just wide. A well worked move by Jamie Middleton and Luke Morgan down the left wing saw Dawlish come close again, and Max Armitage was disappointed when he saw his header go straight to Newton 66's keeper.

Newton 66 finally beat Dawlish's defence with a somewhat fortunate long range shot that just dropped in behind an outstretched Harvey Hannaford to make the score 1-0. Dawlish were probably dwelling on that long shot when Newton 66 struck again from a corner to see them go 2-0 up.

Jack Wills hit the post of Newton 66's goal just before half time, so the score stayed 2-0 as the teams went in for half time.

Dawlish started the second half in a determined mood and nearly scored in the first minute when a shot from Jamie Middleton was knocked out by Newton 66's keeper straight to Corie Cleave, who's snap shot went just wide of the goal. However Dawlish's determination paid of in the end when Max Armitage's cross was put away well by Jack Wills to make it 2-1. Dawlish pushed hard for an equaliser but were caught on the brake by Newton 66 and conceded a 3rd.

Dawlish didn't let there heads drop and continued to fight to get back into the game, man of the match Max Armitage lead by example with some great play from midfield. Unfortunately for Dawlish there efforts were in vain as Newton 66 again caught them on the break for their 4th.

The game finished 5-1, a score that on paper flattered Newton 66 when the actual game was a much closer affair.

ALPHINGTON JETS 2 - 0 CULLOMPTON UNDER 11'S CUP

Alphington Jets deservedly went through to the semi-finals, after inflicting the first defeat of the season for Cullompton with a great team performance. After a scrappy start Alphington took control of the midfield with Olly Johnson, Ben Clancy, Dan Prout and the lively Charlie Khan playing some great football.

Top of the table, 2nd division Cullompton played some good football, but never really troubled Jack Bunclark in goal. Alphington took the lead when Charlie Khan steered the ball home from another great Dan Prout corner to make it 1-0 at half time. Captain Ben Rooke was superb in the middle of defence with George Hunt and Joe Holmes supporting well. Charlie Ewart went close when he drilled the ball just wide after another good Jets move.

In the second half the inclusion of pacy Luke Bradford and Tony Hutchins created 3 one on one's with the Cullompton keeper, but was denied every time. Cullompton pushed hard for an equaliser, but through great defending and misplaced shots, couldn't get the breakthrough.. Will Bentley and Bradley Wilkie came on and did very well along with Charlie Hart.

The jets sealed their win, when little Tony Hutchins nodded in at the far post and folllowed this by an extravagant forward somersault onto the now sodden pitch. Cullompton never gave up and their keeper made 3 worldy saves to deny Olly,Luke and Charlie Khan. Well done to both sides and we look forward to seeing Cullompton deservedly in division 1 next year.

MAN OF THE MATCH THE TEAM

Twyford 1 Dawlish United 3

Its was a cold clear day in Tiverton, the pitch was heavy but playable.

It was a positive start from Dawlish, A lot of the play in the first half was seen in the midfield section of the pitch, with both teams battling very hard, midfielders Max Armitage, Jack Wills and Jamie Middleton looking particularly strong and focused.

Neither team was given much time on the ball, although some great passing was displayed by both teams.

Sam Wright linked up with Jamie Middleton on the left to create the first chance which saw a long range effort from Jamie confidently caught by the Twyford keeper. Luke Morgan looked menacing up front, but initially united found it difficult to penetrate the final third of the pitch due to a well organised Twyford defence.

Sam Wright put in a noteworthy performance on the left, often tracking back to support Jack Arnold and Nick Langley-pope in defence.

Some good running of the ball down the flanks started to create some chances for United. Matty Ranger had a great run down the right which ended with a fine cross into the box, which was well defended by the Twyford defence. Another chance came for united when Jamie Middleton made a run down the left taking on two players in the process and crossing the ball into the centre, Tommy Saint was there to have a shot on goal but the ball went just wide of the right hand post.

A real chance for Twyford came at the end of the first half when a long ball from the centre of the pitch landed in front of the Twyford forward who was left one on one with Dawlish keeper Harvey-Joe Hannaford. The Twyford forward hit the ball well, chipping it over the keeper but was unlucky to see it go wide.

The second half started as well as the first with both teams working hard to win the ball.

Twyford had an early chance when a pass up front resulted in a shot on goal which was hit wide of the post.

United's keeper Harvey Hannaford was forced to make a fine save after a long range effort from a Twyford midfielder forced Harvey to dive low towards the left hand post and tip the ball wide.

Man of the Match Max Armitage put in an outstanding performance in the centre of midfield closing down a lot of play from Twyford up the middle. It was in fact Max's persistence which helped give Dawlish their first goal. Max managed to win the ball after a great tackle on a Twyford defender, allowing Max to have a clear shot on goal, the keeper managed to save but couldn't keep hold of the ball and palmed it into the path of Dawlish substitute Corie Cleave who knocked the ball into the back of the net to give Dawlish their first.

United's first was closely followed by a second, a clearance form the Twyford defence was intercepted by Matty Ranger who was able to pass on to Cody Rackley, Cody was left with only one defender to beat and unselfishly laid the ball off to Corie Cleave who hit the ball into the goal for United's second.

Dawlish continued to create chances in the second half, and Luke Morgan was unlucky not to get on the scoreboard as he continued to create himself space up front. Against the run of play it was Twyford who were to score next. A long range effort from the Twyford midfielder saw the ball go through the legs Dawlish keeper Harvey Hannaford to make it 2-1.

However , it was Dawlish who were to eventually seal the game , a great ball from Luke Morgan up front to Cody Rackley, saw Cody pick out Corrie on the right and pass the ball, Corie then finished superbly into the top right of the Twyford goal to gain his hat-trick and to give Dawlish a much deserved 3 1 win.

ALPHINGTON JETS 2 - 2 BRIXINGTON

In a very entertaining game, both sides produced some great football in an evenly contested match. Brixington were unlucky not to score on their first attack, but keeper Jack Bunclark denied them. Olly Johnson continued his great form by running the midfield and releasing speedy Dan Prout on many occasions.Within 5 minutes Charlie Ewart robbed the defender and bulleted his shot into the top corner.

Charlie got his second, drilling home from 6 yards after a goalmouth scramble. Will Bentley worked hard down the right for the Jets. Brixngton kept playing attractive football and were rewarded by a great goal from Jo Gore. After the break the inclusion of Ben Clancy and Charlie Khan helped set up some great chances for the Jets to kill the game off. Both Luke Bradford and Tony Hutchins went close.

The back three of Captain Ben Rooke, Joe Holmes and George Hunt were in good form after a difficult 1st half. Bradley Wilkie came on and played very well along with Charlie Hart. Brixington equalised with a great move with the impressive Josh Mclean releasing Jo Gore who slid the ball in for Rian Hill to poke home at the near post. Both sides created chances to win the game that neither deserved to lose. Well done to both teams and referee Steve Hart.

MAN OF THE MATCH OLLY JOHNSON

Dawlish United 1 - 2 Thorverton

Dawlish United U11's returned to action following the previous weeks postponement with Thorverton U11's being the visitors.

There was no snow, which had put paid to the previous weekend action, but shortly before kick off there was a downpour of rain, which ensured conditions were going to be sticky and difficult for both sides.

Thorverton had the early possession and controlled the game pushing forward and looking for an opening.  United defence was solid and ensured that they did not concede an early goal.  Of particular note was a find defensive header from midfielder, Matt Ranger, that stopped a goalward looking shot following a promising Thorverton attack.

Although the dominant side Thorverton did not have it all their own way.  Late into the first quarter Nathan Rowland, making two good tackles to win possession and help launch a United counter attack, forcing the visitors into desperate, albeit successful, defending to shut down this attack.  Luke Morgan also had a chance at scoring but the visiting keeper pushed his chipped effort wide.

As the half went on United continued to find themselves under the cosh and keeper Harvey Hannaford was called into action to stop a long-range effort.

Ranger grafted hard in the centre of midfield playing his part in both offensive and defensive play.

United continued to find themselves on the back foot more and more and were being forced into frantic defensive action following.  It was one goalmouth scramble too many that led to Thorverton opening their account.  The unfortunate Nathan Rowland attempted to clear the ball only to find it stuck in the mud and the opposition attack took the opportunity to hit the ball into the net to take a deserved 0-1 lead.

United had some late first half possession with both Morgan and Middleton unlucky not to score.

The second half followed the same script as the first with Thorverton being the side in control.  Early on Middleton had another chance to run at the opposition and placed a lovely pass towards Cleeve who was unlucky to lose his footing before he could get a boot to the ball.

The visitors then seem to be shooting at will and keeper, Hannaford, was again called into action making some good saves.

The ever dangerous Middleton continued to be a nuisance to the visitors whenever he ran at them but he couldn't but unlock the Thorverton defence.

As the game entered the final quarter, Thorverton then sealed the game with a fine goal.  The opposition attacker took the ball left and hit a fine shot across the goal making 0-2.

Thorverton pushed for a third goal and a well-driven shot appear a sure fire goal only for Hannaford to make his finest save of the match.  At full stretch, he managed to push the ball wide of his far post.

A late rally by Dawlish saw them pull a goal back with a fine piece of play.  The end result following a delicate pass from Morgan to Cody Rackley who took no chances in front of goal and smashed in a powerful shot to make it 1-2.

The goal seem to revitalise United who sensed a draw could be on the cards but the clock was ultimately against them and the final result was 1-2.

Dawlish man of the match was goalkeeper Harvey Hannaford.

Next weekend United are away to Tiverton side, Twyford.

DAWLISH UNITED 0 -4 EXWICK YOUTH

With very wintry conditions to contend with, Dawlish United found themselves defending a corner within the first few minutes which thankfully was saved by Keeper, Harvey Hannaford.

However, this was quickly followed by Exwick's first goal despite some good defensive play by Corey Cleave, Cody Rackley and Jack Arnold.

After a good run on goal by Jamie Middleton, Exwick's keeper got his first touch of the ball having saved Middleton's shot.

Following a few minutes of fast and furious play, the ball went straight up the other end of the pitch resulting in Exwick scoring their second goal.

Exwick Youth showed they were a force to be reckoned with despite some valiant attempts by Corey Cleave and Luke Morgan.  Max Armitage and Matthew Ranger found themselves having to work hard to keep the ball out of danger. ‘Man of the Match', Nick Langley Pope read the game well and often found himself in the right place at the right time to avert danger.

Second half saw Dawlish United outplayed despite an improved work rate by the home team including newcomers, Tommy Saint and Nathan Rowland.  Exwick continued to apply pressure which resulted in another goal for the visitors.

Despite some good passing and team play, Dawlish were unlucky not to score having put the ball just wide of the net.  A great run by Jamie Middleton and some defence splitting passes by Armitage, Cleave and Saint all created openings however the visitors defended resiliently.

Dawlish again found themselves chasing the ball down the other end of the pitch and despite a good save by Harvey Hannaford, Exwick were able to secure their fourth goal leaving Dawlish United slightly shell shocked by Exwick's  performance.

Dawlish 0 Exwick Youth 4

Exwick Youth started the game where they left off before xmas with a great team performance against a well organised and hard working Dawlish. Exwick kicked off and went straight at Dwalish with the Immpressive Bradley Down going close twice, being denied by two good saves from the Dawlish goalkeeper. It wasnt long before Exwick took control with Callum May setting up Down two score his 4th goal in just two games.

2 minutes later Daniel Foweraker and Ollie Baker set Brads away again unselfishly setting up stike partner Corey Butt, 2-0.

Exwick Youth continued to play at a decent pace despite the xmas break on a hard but playable surface down at sandy lane, Dawlish. In the 2nd half Exwick still tried to play football missing numerous chances. Dawlish kept going and could of got back in the game and created a couple of chances themselves but with Goalie Luke Wotton keeping concentration throughout made  some decent saves.

Exwick in turn did eventually get there third through Connor Roberts. Exwicks forth goal was a great team effort with pass after pass Leaving Levi Edwardson to go on a mazy run eventually the ball falling to Ollie Baker who fired home 4-0. Exwick Youths man of the match again 'Toby Madden'.

Good luck to Darren and his hard working troops, see you soon.!

SIDMOUTH 5 - 0 ALPHIGTON JETS

Firstly thanks to Jon millar from Sidmouth who arranged the astro pitch to ensure the game went on.Alphington put on a spirited display against a strong Sidmouth team. Sidmouth opened the scoring with a free kick in 1st minute. Sidmouth were playing with confidence and dominated the first 15 minutes.

Alphington always looked dangerous on the break and with Man of the match Olly Johnson and Luke Bradford in midfield pulling the strings, never looked out of the game. Dan Prout and Charlie Ewart both forced fine saves from the Sidmouth keeper, whilst captain Ben Rooke, George and Joe Holmes looked assured in defence.

In the second half, Sidmouth showed why they are top of the league with some good passing moves creating chances. Olly Johnson for the Jets was by far the best player on the pitch, but Sidmouth were in control of the game and scored four more in the second half to record a fine 5-0 victory. Well done to a very good Sidmouth side.

MAN OF THE MATCH OLLY JOHNSON who was very assured.

Dawlish United 4 - 0 Brixington

Dawlish won the kick off and started very well but a great save by Harvey Hannaford in the first couple of minutes of the game from a Brixington player kept the score level. A great pass from Jamie Middleton sent Luke Morgan away who was well tackled by a Brixington player. Dawlish continued to attack the Brixington goal.

In an end to end game another Brixington attempt on the Dawlish goal was well stopped by the Dawlish defenders. Brixington then saw another attempt well stopped by Nathan Rowland. Luke Morgan was unlucky not to score when he saw his shot well saved. The Dawlish defenders were now working really hard at stopping Brixington attempts on the Dawlish goal. Dawlish started applying more pressure and Luke Morgan had another shot well saved. Brixington then had another attempt on the Dawlish goal which again was well stopped by Nathan Rowland. Brixington then continued to attack and Matty Ranger cleared the ball for a corner and which saw a very good save from Harvey Hannaford.

Jack Wills and Tommy Saint were then introduced to the midfield to bring on fresh legs and Tommy Saint did well to beat the tackles of two Brixington players. Dawlish continued to attack the Brixington goal with Corie Cleave unlucky not to score. Nick Langley-Pope was working hard at the back with Nathan Rowland. The Dawlish midfielders were now play some good link up football Corie Cleave's pass sent Jack Wills away on goal who saw his shot well saved. Another good pass from Tommy Saint then sent Jack Wills away again but he was stopped by a Brixington player with half time minutes away both teams were still looking for the first goal Brixington then had another attack on the Dawlish goal and again this was well stopped by the Dawlish defenders.

The second half started much the same with Dawlish hungry for the first goal a good move from Jamie Middleton who sent Corie Cleave away who's shot was well saved. Matty Ranger was then unlucky to see his shot hit the side netting. Jamie Middleton then won the ball and shot the ball passed the keeper to score the first goal of the game. Brixington then tried to attack the Dawlish goal again Nathan Rowland was there to stop them. Max Armitage was unlucky when he saw his shot go just wide. The second goal for Dawlish and the best goal of the game came from a corner which was cleared to Jamie Middleton who then passed to Jack Wills who's first time ball to Cody Rackley who then struck the ball well passed the keeper to score a excellent goal, Dawlish then went in search of more, Cody Rackley saw another shot hit the upright and Dawlish then scored again when Corie Cleave scored a good goal. A good pass form Jack Wills then set up Corie Cleave to score an excellent headed goal to score his second and the fourth for Dawlish. Brixington still continued to attack the Dawlish goal but the Dawlish Defenders where stopping everything, a good clearance by Sam Wright at the end the game kept the clean sheet in tact. The Man of the match award went to Nathan Rowland. All credit to the Brixington boys who battled throughout in a good spirited game.

The boys will now have a well deserved rest over xmas, they resume league action at home to Exwick on 2 January 2010.

Exwick 2 - 1 Alphington Jets

On another heavy pitch, Alphington came up against a very physical intimidating new look Exwick side. Exwick started well and deservedly opened the scoring when Cory Butt scored a wonder goal from 20 yards that flew into the top corner. Alphington grew into the game with Charlie Khan,Dan Prout, Charlie Ewart and William Bentley creating chances. Dan Prout equalised for the Jets when he cooly lobbed the ball over the keeper and slotted the ball home. Alphington ended the half on the up and were unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty when the Exwick defender handled the ball in the box.

In the second half Exwick were on top but were unable to beat Jack Bunclark who was in great form again. Captain Ben Rooke, George Hunt and second half substitute Joe Holmes were resolute in defence and had great games. Ben Clancy and Charlie Khan covered every blade of grass on the pitch. Dan Foweraker was unlucky for Exwick when Jack tipped his goalbound drive on to the bar. Exwick were awarded a penalty when an Exwick attacker was fouled in the area, but Olly Bakers well hit pen just flew over the bar. Exwick created more chances, but Alphington always looked dangerous on the break. Olly Johnson beat 2 defenders before hitting the bar with his shot.

Ben Clancy was denied by a good save from the keeper when through on goal. Alphington were denied another penalty when Charlie Khan was fouled in the area. The game was becoming scrappy and unfortunately niggly. It looked like ending in a draw, but with 2 minutes to go, the in form Cory Butt found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper and his shot bobbled over the line after a desperate effort to keep it out. Bradley Wilkie and Tony Hutchins tried hard for the Jets.

Well done to the Jets for playing the game in the correct manner.

MAN OF THE MATCH FOR THE JETS WAS BEN CLANCY MITCHELL

EXWICK YOUTH 2 ALPHINGTON 1

A game played on a heavy pitch due to our great weather recently. Not a lot of great football played due to boys finding the pitch heavy and the ball not rolling but bobbling along. So some missed timed tackles from both sides in a typical local derby and some goalmouth scrambles defended well by both sides. But with not much happening in the game, a rare attack from either side a bit of class from Exwicks Corey Butt scored a screamer which flew into the top corner. 1-0.

With the new look Exwick side missing Levi Edwardson and Bradley Down through illness struggled after they went 1 up, with Alphington playing very direct football deserving to equalise. With both teams being denied penalties by the ref who done well due to the conditions. The half ended in a 1-1 affair. Not much really happened in 2nd half except Alphingtons best player in Ollie Johnson who worked very hard in the mud..! Neally scored after a mazy run hit the post then bar.

Exwick youth tried very hard themselves in the mud with Ollie Baker running allday in the mud( as he loves it.!) then missed a penalty after being brought down himself. Alphingtons goalkeeper made some impressive saves to keep his team in the game, but with time running out exwick scored again through a lucky strike from Corey which went through the Alphas goalkeeper legs and bobbled over the line.

Not a great game to watch but was played with both TEAMS trying there best in a well evenly matched contest, which neither team in the end deserved to win.

Well done Exwick, with Toby Madden again different class.

Dawlish Untied 3 - 3 Pinhoe

Pinhoe kicked off in what turned out to be a hard fought game. Pinhoe started off strong and had several attacks but with good defending from Nathan Rowland and Nick Langley-Pope prevented them scoring.

Great passing moves from Jamie Middleton and Luke Morgan gave Dawlish a few near misses but Middleton eventually got through to score the first goal. Mid fielders Max Armitage, Matty Ranger and Jack Wills kept the ball moving well for Dawlish. Pinhoe's persistence enabled them to level the score following a great save from Harvey Hannaford but the rebound was well finished by the Pinhoe forward, 1-1 at half time.

In the second half Jack Arnold replaced Nathan Rowland, but it was Pinhoe who were still the stronger side at this point. Their pressure almost created another goal, which was magnificently blocked by Sam Wright. Pinhoe came at it again with a second strike but Harvey Hannaford produced a great save.

Dawlish now started fighting back which saw Corie Cleave take a great shot only to see the Pinhoe keeper work hard to keep it out. The second Dawlish goal came from great build up play, a Sam Wright pass to man of the match Jamie Middleton who coolly struck the second ball into the bottom corner. With spirits high Cody Rackley, now playing in an upfront position, managed to claim his first goal of the season.

In what seemed to be a clear win for Dawlish the boys saw Pinhoe, in a defiant mood. They came back fighting scoring their second goal, shortly followed by miss play by Dawlish which resulted in a penalty, leaving the score 3-3 at full time.

Under 10's League Cup Round 2 - Exwick 2 Newton Abbot 3

Following an aborted mission the week before due to the monsoon season we are all experiencing the game was switched to Newton Abbot's pitch on a blustery wet morning.  The pitch was in good shape despite the current conditions and it was Newton Abbot that started the brighter of the 2 sides.

The first goal came from a slick passing move with Christian Colledge finding Owen Smee on the right who crossed first time for Matt Findlay to stroke home.  Newton Abbot took control and had the better chances which they failed to convert.  The equaliser came from nowhere a cross  which looked comfortable for Owen Coombe in Newton Abbots goal, but he took his eye off the ball for a second and spilt it into the thankful Exwick strikers feet who slotted into an empty net, 1-1.

Exwick got into the game but were restricted to long range efforts.

Newton Abbot battled to get a foothold and were rewarded when Austin Sample slid a defence splitting pass into Matt Findlays feet creating a 1 on 1 with the keeper. The Exwick goalkeeper was lightening quick off his line and parried the strikers shot which fell kindly to James Wright who made no mistake in slamming home Newtons 2nd goal.  2-1 at half time.

The second half started and for 20 minutes or so the game reached a stalemate with not many chances due to some good defensive play by both sides.  An Exwick corner resulted in a scramble which left the Newton defenders claiming a hand ball, not given by the referee, and the Exwick striker smashed it home without hesitation, 2-2.

The final 10 minutes was end to end with both teams creating chances, and in the final minute a high cross fell to the feet of Ethan Murphy who swivelled and shot Newton Abbot into the quarter finals! Despite 8 minutes of extra time the Newton Abbot boys held onto their lead with a spirited display of football.

A big thank you to the Exwick parents for making the journey down to Newton Abbot when they really should have been at home.  Credit must also be given to the Exwick players for putting up such a battle in what was a well contested game of football! With a display such as this they will do very well for the remainder of the season.

ALPHINGTON JETS u11'S 5 - 0 ST MARTINS u11's

Alphington Jets got their home game with St Martins under way on a very heavy pitch. Both teams played some good football and the match was end to end. It was the Jets who took the lead on sixteen minutes. Another tremendous corner from Daniel Prout was finished off by the in form Charlie Ewart. Ten minutes later Charlie Ewart got his second of the match when his shot from 20 yards flew over the St Martins keeper. A minute later  Charlie Khan made it 3-0 to Alphington when he finished well.

Both teams had chances to score but the half ended with no more goals being scored. St Martins battled well and deserved a goal, but some great defending from George Hunt and captain Ben Rooke was backed up by Jack Bunclark in excellent form in goal. Ollie Johnson netted twice , drilling his 1st home from close range, followed by a speculative shot that bobbled over the line. St Martins had some good chances to score before they were awarded a penalty. Another fine save from Jack Bunclark in the Alphington goal kept them out.

William Bentley,Luke Bradford and Tony Hutchins went close for the Jets along with Bradley Wilkie. Charlie Hart put in another good performance when called upon, with Ben Clancy having one of his best games for the Jets so far. A flattering scoreline for Alphington is summed up by the fact Alphington goalkeeper Jack Bunclark being named Man of the match.

MAN OF THE MATCH JACK BUNCLARK

Dawlish United U11 2-1 Crediton U11

On a cold and damp morning, Dawlish United U11's had to work hard to secure a 2-1 victory in a tight and tense Devon & Exeter Youth League Division 1 tie.

From early on it was clear that Crediton were going to be a tough opposition and it was the visitors who were slightly on top and pressing forward and asking questions of the Dawlish defence, who were up for the task and did well breaking down the Crediton attacking play.

After 5 minutes, United found themselves trailing by a goal by way of a deflection off United defender Jack Arnold as he attempted to block a Crediton cross.  Arnold, clearly disappointed, didn't allow his head to drop and put in a solid performance throughout the rest of the match.

Playing up the hill United were finding it hard to keep possession and Crediton were having most of the play and keeper Harvey Hannaford was brought into action and he was as the ever dependable making some important saves.

Mid way through the first period, United began to get themselves into the game.  Forward Corie Cleave showed some good touches and produced a good run down the flank only for the visiting defence to break it down before he could put in a cross into the box.

With half time approaching, there was goalmouth action at both ends.  Credition almost doubled their lead with United saved by the woodwork and at the other end Cleave look odds on to score as he latched onto the ball in front of goal only to send the ball skyward over the crossbar.  On two occasions midfielder Jamie Middleton sent in two powerful shots forcing the visiting keeper into making two important saves.

The second half saw United now playing downhill and it was Dawlish who started the stronger and were probing for an equaliser with Luke Morgan and Middleton sending in two goal attempts.  6 minutes into the half Middleton again showed his pace making a wide run and sent in a cross to Morgan who delivered the ball to the feet of Corie Cleave who didn't think twice about putting the ball into the back of the net.

Both sides now were playing to find a second goal.  It was the visitors who were looking more likely with two chances.  The first followed an unlucky deflection as United were clearing the ball from the half.  The deflection saw the ball fly back towards the area catching the Dawlish defence by surprise.  The ball was picked up by a Crediton forward who was one on one with keeper Hannaford.  Hannaford stood tall to make a save.  Sensing they could score another Crediton pushed on and again looked odds-on to score only for the head of Nathan Rowland, had strategically placed himself on the line, to stop a goal bound ball.

Now it was Dawlish's turn to pile on some pressure and they began to turn the screw on the tiring opposition.  Some good play from Cody Rackley saw him shoot only for the ball to go tantalisingly across the mouth of the goal.  A Nick Langley-Pope attempt, following some good interplay, was denied by the crossbar.  With 5 minutes, remaining United got their second.  Langley-Pope tried to chip the Crediton keeper who caught the ball but couldn't keep control and dropped and Cleave ferreted in the put the loose ball into the net.

Dawlish could of increased their lead in the closing minutes with both Cleave almost adding a third and man of the match Middleton putting some great movement across the area and unlucky not to score.

In the end United were deserving winners but knew they had been in a hard fought game and credit to all the team for not giving up and putting in a strong team performance to secure the win.

Next Saturday United continue league action at home with Exeter based Pinhoe Spartans the visitors.  Kick-off 10:45 am.

Under 11's League Cup Round 2 - WEST HILL YOUTH 1 - 3 ALPHINGTON JETS

After some frantic forking of the pitch by Steve Berisford West Hill and Alphington played out an entertaining, slip sliding, splashly cup match which should have been sponsored by ariel automatic. For the brave few spectators that endured an hour of torrential rain on Saturday afternnon, the pure enthusoiasm and endeavour of the boys from both teams brighten up a sodden day.

Alphington started with the wind behind them and went close through Dan Prout, Charlie Ewart and Ben Clancy before West Hill forced a great save from Jack Bunclark, who got fingertips to a great drive heading for the top corner. From the resulting corner West Hill went 1 up when Jack coud only parry the ball as the West Hill forward headed home from 2 yards. Ben Clancy and Olly Johnson started to dominate in midfield and the dangerous Dan Prout rifled home from 15 yards.

The impressive Tony Hutchins made it 2-1 to the Jets when put through on goal, celebrated by a great somersault in the muddiest puddle on the pitch. Captain Ben Rooke was masterful at the heart of defence with both Joe Holmes and George Hunt supporting him well. Charlie Ewart played his best game yet for the Jets up front and went close on numerous occasions, using his strength and pace to power through. In the second half of an evenly contested game , resulted in Dan Prout scoring his second from an acute angle after some great skill.

The inclusion of second half subs, Will Bentley , Bradley Wilkie, Charlie Hart and the returning Charlie Khan helped bolster the Jets resolve. West Hill went close, but some great defending and puddle stopping attacks meant that the Jets went through to the next round. Thanks to West Hill for their determination to get the game on.

Exwick youth 9 Pinhoe Spartans 0

Exwick Youth gave a debut too Bradley Down, and what a debut..... Exwick started with the wind, with them but started very slowly until from a corner after 15mins was cleared only for Callum May to start the goals rolling with a screamer from outside the box which the keeper didnt see. Until then Pinhoe's goalie looked unbeatable with save after save. 1-0. After that goal Exwick woke up espiscally debutant Down who took Pinhoe's defence apart with 2 well taken goals, after that a team goal scored via skipper Ollie Baker to make it 4, fellow Strikers Corey Butt and the hard working Cameron Kelly then also scored to make 6-0 at half time....
2nd half for 10mins was all the hard working Pinhoe players who kept going and caused a few problems but  with Toby Madden running it at the back for Exwick there was no way through.. Bradley Down then completed his hat-trick through the equally hard working Dan Foweraker's approach play. Further goals from Kelly and Butt completed the scoring. Under 11's League Cup Round 2 - Twyford 3 - 3 Dawlish (AET) (Dawlish win 4-3 on Penalties)

Both teams started the match full of energy and determination despite the appalling weather conditions but in the end Dawlish united ended up the worthy winners in a close fought contest that turned out to be the game of the season thus far.

This game had it all excitement, tension, highs and lows, villains and heroes and the spectators who were lucky enough to witness this spectacle of young footballers giving there all, went away feeling thoroughly proud and entertained. It was evident even before kick off the waterlogged pitch would sap the strength of each and every player, but this never stopped both teams trying to play and produce some good football, and so they did this starting with some great link up play between Sam Wright and Max Armitage which led to many of the team's attacks but the one that stood out was a Matty Ranger's clear pass through to Corie Cleave who went onto score the first goal of the game. Only minutes after the teams triumph, Twyford responded with their first goal making the score 1-1.

Dawlish responded well with another chance coming very soon, Tommy Saint tackling well to win the ball then going onto shoot his shot hitting the left hand post. It didn't end there Dawlish keeping the pressure on with some great team work from Jack Wills, it resulted with Jamie Middleton making it 2-1 with an unbelievable goal from the half way line.

Both sides were still going strong when Luke Morgan powered his way through for a clean shoot making the score 3-1 to Dawlish. Twyford fought there way back with another two goals late on making it 3-3.

In extra time defender Jack Arnold's excellent headers and Nathan Rowland's quick reactions enabled Dawlish to stay level which took the match to penalties.

Tensions were high after Dawlish missed the first penalty but with some great strikes from Max Armitage, Luke Morgan and Jamie Middleton and some great saves from man of the match Nick Langley-Pope set up Dawlish to take the final penalty at 3-3 needing to score to win. Matty Ranger stepped up and considerable under pressure, finished coolly securing the score at 4-3 a well deserved win for the Dawlish boys.

Part way through the half Jamie Middleton was unlucky when he managed to skip past two players and Sidmouth's keeper when he saw his goal bound effort subject to a last ditch clearance. The second Sidmouth goal came from a corner and good finish into the left hand corner. Corey Cleave and Jamie Middleton made several good runs but were unable to break the Sidmouth defence and keeper.

In the second half Dawlish continued to battle and Corey Cleave had several good chances and a free kick taken by Max Armitage just went wide. The Dawlish defence and keeper had a busy game but managed to keep the opposition at bay until the 45 minute when a good shot from Sidmouth eluded Hannaford's dive to make it 3-0. The second half was very even with end to end football. Olly Johnson and Ben Clancy Mitchell were dominating in midfield. Alphington hit the crossbar and Charlie saved well from William Bentley, but could do nothing when the impressive Luke Bradford slotted home with his left from 8 yards. Both teams were out for the win, Jack Bunclark tipped over a great drive and pushed a Bailey Cabines goalbound shot around the post.George Hunt and Jo Holmes did well on the flanks for Alphington whilst Bradley Wilkie, Charlie Hart were in good form, whilst the excellent Tony Hutchins was creating problems for the Thors down the left.

After the restart Stoke Hill continued to dominate, playing some lovely passing football, with Harvey Newman, who had been menacing up front all game, coming close on a number of occasions. Against the run of play Broadclyst then grabbed their second to make it an uneasy time for Stoke Hill, however Stoke Hill continued to press and midway through the second half Mark McIntosh powered past the Broadclyst defense to slot past the keeper and claim his hat-trick.

Stoke Hill's dominance in this match showed as the full time whistle approached, things finally being wrapped up with a few minutes to go when a cheeky move by Edward Mullarkey saw him curl a shot beyond the Broadclyst keeper to make the final score 5 - 2 to Stoke Hill.

Dawlish Matchday Report

On a wet and blustery morning Dawlish kicked off in what turned out to be a hard fought game between too good footballing sides. The first chance came early on for Dawlish with a long range effort by Matty Ranger from this the Dawlish team had the early pressure, Newton then found their passing game and had a quick succession of attacks which were dealt with by the Dawlish defence Nick Langley-Pope, Sam Wright and Jack Arnold, Newton's continuing confidence grew and they were awarded with their first goal after a lapse in concentration at the back for Dawlish.

The Dawlish boys tried to raise their game but soon found themselves 2-0 down after a right wing cross from the Newton winger was met by a looping header which drifted over the head of Harvey-Joe Hannaford in the Dawlish goal. This second goal seemed to ignite a sense of urgency in the Dawlish team and some great team work down the right lead to a throw in which was quickly taken by Sam Wright the ball reaching Jamie Middleton and some terrific footwork saw him reduce the deficit to 2-1. The game was now going from end to end and some brave defending by Nick Langley-Pope saw him win a free kick on the edge of his own penalty area, but the kick was a poor one and nearly cost them as Newton shot just wide. Both teams were now playing good football and creating goal scoring chances Newton coming closest with a shot scrapping the Dawlish crossbar. A counter attack by Corie Cleave for Dawlish saw his shot go directly to Newton's keeper. Dawlish's pressure to find an equaliser continued with efforts from Tommy Saint, playing in his new role, and further shots by Jack Wills and Corie Cleave. A quick break away by Newton saw another shot just over the Dawlish crossbar. Dawlish got the equaliser after Jamie Middleton won a hard tackle on the half way line and then produced a great attack down the left wing with Sam Wright ending with Jamie crossing for Jack Wills to header home. Dawlish now thought they were going in to half time on equal terms, but a late Newton corner and some poor marking lead to a third goal for Newton.

The second half started as hard fought as the first with a lot of the play in midfield and some good challenges from Max Armitage, the Dawlish pressure to find another equaliser continued with a through ball from Tommy Saint finding Jack Wills, but his shot was well held by the Newton keeper, from this Newton raised their game again with a string of attacks which were met by strong defending from Dawlish defence which now included Nathan Rowland. Newton's countless pressure eventually paid off after a great move down the right saw them score their fourth. This goal again seemed to awaken the Dawlish players especially Jamie Middleton, now playing up front, he won the ball on the half way line and drove right through the middle of the Newton defence and his shot flew past the keeper to make it 4-3. Dawlish continued to try and find another equaliser with a good effort from Corie Cleave again held well by the Newton Keeper. Unfortunately this pressure came unrewarded when Dawlish lost possession in the middle and Newton broke away to score their fifth and only a good stop by Dawlish keeper Harvey-Joe Hannaford prevented a sixth.

The game was now very even despite the scoreline and both teams were looking for more goals, some good work from Max Armitage and Matty Ranger in the midfield for Dawlish looked as if it would pay dividends especially with Jamie Middleton looking more and more menacing every time he had the ball, this eventually paid off when his through ball found Corie Cleave with a one on one with the keeper, his first shot being parried but Corie scored from the rebound to make the score 5-4. Dawlish now battled hard to draw level, but a late corner for Newton saw them find the net again to make the score 6-4 right at the final whistle. The scoreline looking very favourable for Newton, but the work rate from the Dawlish team could not be faulted with Man of the Match being awarded to Jamie Middleton.

St Martins 4 Exwick Youth 4

Exwick youth started at a great tempo scoring early through Callum May scoring his 1st goal of the season. Then St martins went through and slotted home 1-1. But Exwick continued to create chances then scoring through an unstoppable shot from Dan Foweraker.

Callum Owens scored again 3-1. It looked like game over but fairplay to st martins there work rate and effort was rewarded right on half time with Exwicks goalie saving a one on one only for an Ewwick defender under no pressure sliced a clearance straight in the bottem corner.

3-2. 2nd half was an even affair with st martins equalising, only for PJ Doran to score his maiden goal for Exwick with a screamer. Again the Saints came back 4-4....

It could of gone either way at the end but fine defending from St martins defender Elliot Cole who was there star player. Skipper for the day Toby Madden was Exwick youths man of the match.

Under 11's League Cup Round 1 --- Stoke Hill 1 - Dawlish United 4

Both teams started nervously in this first cup match of the season. Possession being fairly even and scrappy throughout the early part of the first half.

Stoke were given their first chance when a long ball fed from the midfield fell to the path of their striker. The Stoke striker was denied by a composed Keeper Harvey Hannaford who came off his line to meet and gather the ball.

Both teams found it difficult to find a rhythm, but it was Stoke who had the better of the chances. A couple of goal mouth scrambles could have seen Stoke take an early lead , but the Dawlish defence did well to stop them from taking this advantage. Jack Arnold,Cody Rackley and Nick Langley-Pope put in a determined performace at the back, supported well by both Tommy Saint and Nathan Rowland, both tracking back well to keep the ball away from the Dawlish net. Max Armitage was solid throughout, distributing the ball with accuracy, and playing a vital role in maintaining United's structure in midfield

A counter attack from Dawlish saw Sam Wright play a perfectly weighted ball down the left wing to Luke Morgan. Luke did well to control and take a strike, the Stoke keeper produced a fine save tipping the ball left of the post to deny Dawlish of their first.

Dawlish soon had another chance, when some good interplay between Max and Sam saw the ball laid off to Matty Ranger, enabling him to take a long range strike at the goal , Matty hit the ball cleanly and was unlucky to see the ball drift past the left hand post for a goalkick.

It was early in the second half that Stoke were to take the lead in this well fought out cup match, again it was a long ball from the Stoke midfield which saw the Stoke striker left one on one with the dawlish keeper. Harvey came off his line but could do nothing about the well placed chip over his head into the top left hand corner.

Dawlish were not going to let Stoke keep the lead for long, and subsequently raised their game. Their persistance was rewarded when Luke Morgan held the ball up front and laid it off to Jamie Middleton. Jamie's clinical finish into the bottom left made the score 1-1.

Stoke had a couple more chances but were unable to capitalise, a now more organised defence supported by some great defensive midfield play from Jamie and Max  helped Keep Stoke at bay.

It was Man of the Match Corie Cleave who gave United their well deserved lead, already unlucky not to have scored from a wonderfully timed overhead kick, Corie's relentless pressure on the Stoke defence eventually saw him break through to put the ball in the back of the net and united 2-1 ahead.

Credit to Stoke as their heads didn't drop, and they continued to maintain composure and work hard, but it was eventually United's day, as continued pressure from the Dawlish strike force was rewarded with two more well finished strikes from Corie Cleave, giving Corie his hatrick and United a 4-1 Win

TWYFORD SPARTANS 1 - 3 ALPHINGTON JETS

Alphington ran out winners in this league match in a very closey fought contest. Twyford started the game brightly and were on top for the 1st 15minutes and could have been 3 up. Only some excellent saves from Jets keeper Jack Bunclark and some last ditch defending kept the score goalless. Olly Johnson looked dangerous up front for the Jets and a good move involving Wlliam Bentley was Jets best move. Twyford took a deserved lead after a mix up in the Jets defence. Twyford nearly doubled their lead just before half time but man of the match George Hunt denied them with a great tackle. Dan Prout went close for the Jets.

Second half, substitutes Tony Hutchins, Bradley Wilkie and Charlie Ewart helped to inspire a hardworking Jets. The back three of George Hunt, captain Ben Rooke and the ever improved Joe Holmes were now winnig every ball, Alphington looked like a different side. Tony Hutchins was superb down the left and Bradley was solid down the right, this allowed Olly and Charlie Khan to run the midfield with Charlie Ewart having a great game up front.

Olly saw his 1st free kick well saved by the Twyford keeper and Charlie Ewart just slipped the ball wide. Another freee kick led to the Jets equaliser, when Olly's shot was saved but ever alert Charlie Khan drilled the ball home. Alphington were now on top and Bradley scored the 2nd after another good save by the keeper, before Olly got his deservrd goal when he hammered the ball home from 15 yards. Ben Clancy came on to shore up the defence along with Charlie Hart. Twyford pushed for another goal, but the Jets held out. Well worked today boys.

MAN OF THE MATCH GEORGE HUNT

Exwick Youth 1 Sidmouth 3

Exwick were looking for there 1st victory of the season against a big and strong Sidmouth side. Exwick started the strongest of the teams with new signing Levi Edwardson putting in a well constructive debut. Both teams tried to play football with Exwick and Sidmouth not prepared to shy out of a tackle. But right on half time Sidmouth showed why they are unbeaten and scored courtesy of some slopping defending.

1-0 two minutes later Sidmouth scored a goal with some slick passing 2-0. That didnt stop there never say die attitude as Exwick scored via a deflected shot from Ollie Baker with a move involving Cal May and a hard working Dan Foweraker. Half time.... 2nd half Exwick came out the blocks as usaul like a train.. missing half chances by the dozen.

Against the run of play Sidmouth again showed there confidence in front of goal and scored a one on one. 3-1. Exwick never gave up and in the end with a little bit of luck could of got something out of the game.

But fairplay to Jon Miller and his team. Good luck for the season..!

BRIXINGTON BLUES U11'S 3 - 5 ALPHINGTON JETS U11'S

On a beautiful pitch and glorious weather , both teams put on a good spectacle of football. Alphington were fast out of the traps and had all the early pressure, resulting in a great header by Charli Khan from Ben Clancy's free kick. The tricky Olly Johnson was denied from extendibg the lead by a couple of great saves from the Brixington keeper and Daniel Prout hit the post as Brixington grew in confidence and dominated the last 15 minutes of the first half. with Bradley Snook firied home off a defender, to make it 1-1.

Jack Bunclark made a couple of stunning saves to keep the score at 1 each at half time. In the second half Brixington played some great football and took a deserved lead when Ryan Hill fired home and this was followed by a great individual goal by Josh Mclane, who beat 2 defenders and slipped the ball past the oncoming Jack in goal.

Brixington were well on top now and only some great goalkeeping kept them out. The turning point in the game happened when Olly Johson danced past 2 defender and drilled into the top corner from 15 yards. Alphington were on the up. Daniel Prout broke through and hit the post, but made no mistake when the ball was crossed back in.

At 3-3 both teams were all out for the win. Captain Ben Rooke, George Hunt and Joe Holmes wre impressive in the Jets defence. William Bentley did well down the right. Substitute Charli Ewart had a great shot tipped onto the post by the athletic Brixington keeper, but could do nothing about the fourth for Aplhington when Daniel Prout slid the ball home after some good work from the speedy substitute Tony Hutchins. Charlie Hart came on and did well down the left for the Jets.

Both keepers were called into action again before Charlie Khan cooly slotted home to double his tally for the game ensuring an Alphington win when a draw was possibly a fair result.

MAN OF THE MATCH DANIEL PROUT

Dawlish United Under 11’s 3 v 2 Twyford Spartans

A long range volley from Max Armitage secured the points for Dawlish in a closely fought game which saw the home side twice come from behind. Spartans made full use of their height and strength advantage in the opening exchanges and should have taken the lead when they blazed over from a corner as they pressed for an early lead.

Harvey Hannaford in the Dawlish goal looked assured as he comfortably dealt with numerous long balls into his box however he was left exposed as a high ball over the Dawlish defence fell for a Twyford striker who confidently finished into the bottom corner. Dawlish tried to respond with Nick Langley-Pope going close after good work from Matt Ranger and Luke Morgan on the right but it was the visitors who finished the half the strongest with Hannaford again having to be alert to a long range effort.

With the wind behind them United made a perfect start to the second half with Jamie Middleton firing home the equaliser from a through ball by Jack Wills. Man of the match Wills was proving a constant threat to the visitors as Dawlish, rapidly growing in confidence, pushed for further goals. It was against the run of play when Spartans again took the lead with a close range finish after United failed to deal with a hopeful ball into their penalty area.

To their credit United responded excellently and within minutes were again level courtesy of the goal of the match by Middleton. Armitage won the ball in midfield, played it to Wills who's quick pass was laid off perfectly by Corrie Cleave for Ranger, his shot was well saved but Middleton was on hand to grab his second of the game. United now had their tails up and were working hard for the winner, a Wills shot was well held and the visitors keeper was injured as he bravely denied Cleave.

United's efforts were soon rewarded however, a Sam Wright corner was partially cleared and fell to Armitage who volleyed towards goal, the stand in keeper was deceived and the points belonged to Dawlish. There was still time for the home side to increase their lead however Wrights shot from the edge of the box was well held.

ALPHNGTON JETS 4 - 1 PINHOE

Alphington Jets ended up worthy winners in a close fought game where both sides played some  great football. Alphington Struck early in the game when man of the match Olly Johnson scored the first of his hatrick when he volleyed home from 8 yards after the Pinhoe keeper pushed out Daniel Prout's inswinging corner. Olly scored his second after a great move, where the impressive Charlie Khan beat one, before slipping the ball to Olly, who drilled home from 15 yards.

Pinhoe never say die attitude, ended in a tremendous strike by Owen Castle that nearly broke the net. Pinhoe were dominant for the remaining 15 minutes of the first half and only some excellent goalkeeping from Jack Bunclark and stout defending from Ben Rooke, Joe Holmes and George Hunt prevented pinhoe getting a deserved equaliser.

Alphington scored their third when captain Ben Clancy powered his way through two challenges before releasing Olly to hammer home his rebound in the roof of the net after a fine save from the Pinhoe keeper.

Jack Bunclark pulled off the save of the match when he somehow pushed away a goalbound effort when the attacker was clean through. Alphington scored their fourth when the hard working William Bentley headed home Olly Johnson's drilled free kick. Bradley Wilkie, Charlie Ewart and Charlie Hart all did exceptionally well when they came on for Alphington.

Well done to Pinhoe who never gave up.
Man of the Match Olly Johnson

Newton Abbot 66 5 - 4 Exwick Youth

In an exciting game produced at the highest level was in the end won by Newton 66's 1st half goals. With Exwick Youth starting well missed 2 great chances. But 3 shots later found themselves 3-0 down.

By this stage a strong and well organised Newton 66 side went in cruise control cos Exwick youth fell flat on there feet and conceded another right on half time. With to be fair Exwick's goalkeeper couldn't do anything with any of the goals.

HALF TIME.... last week 3-0 down at half time. This week 4-0 down... what do you say..!! Well 2nd half... all of a sudden Exwick turned up. Callum May picked out a pass and the impressive Dan Foweraker cooly slotted home. 4-1. A minute later Oli Baker scored.. Game on..4-2.

Newton 66 then broke away in a rare 2nd half attack and scored. 5-2..Game over, but the Exwick lads showed great determination with A GREAT team effort kept going.

A superb team move enable Exwick to score again through a cross-cum-shot from Foweraker.5-3..With 5mins to go a great header from Foweraker to complete a well derserved hat trick. 5-4..

Exwick missed half chances through May, Baker, and sub Kieran Appleby and Foweraker. In the last minute with Exwick pushing forward conceded a penalty. GK Luke Wotton made a tremendous save.. Game over 5-4..

A great game played in superb spirit by 2 good teams. Thanks to Newton 66  for what was a great advert for under 11s football..

Thorverton 2- 1 Dawlish United

Thorverton ran out comfortable winners of a game they controlled almost from the first whistle to the last. Dawlish gave themselves a mountain to climb with a sloppy start and were two goals down before they started playing by which time their opponents were in complete control.

The home side took the lead when they won possession on the half line, split the United defence with a well weighted through ball before calmly finishing inside the post. Two fine stops from Harvey Hannaford low to his right prevented Thorverton from increasing their lead as they completely dominated.

The inevitable second goal arrived after just 15 minutes with a sharp turn and shot from close range giving Hannaford no chance. As the half wore on Dawlish gradually improved, a fine ball from Sam Wright nearly set up Corrie Cleave and soon after excellent work from Jamie Middleton created Uniteds first opportunity which Jack Wills finished from close range to get his side back in the match.

United worked much harder in a second half of few chances with Thorverton attacking with pace however, to their credit United defended well and apart from a long range effort which scrapped the post the home side never looked likely to increase their lead.

At the other end fine strikes by man of the match Middleton and Jack Wills were well held by the home keeper and despite a late spell of pressure Dawlish were unable to pull level.

Dawlish United 4 - 0 Alphington

Beautiful sunshine greeted both teams for there first league game of the season, and from the onset it was evident the hot weather conditions and the hard playing surface in some way were going to have an effect on the outcome of this closely fought contest, the score line not reflecting the two evenly matched teams.

The game started at a fast and furious pace with both sides wanting to make an early impression and stamp an early authority on the game, the first ten minutes were relatively even with Alphington showing maybe just a little more success going forward only the final ball letting them down, some good defensive work from Jack Arnold and Nick Langley-Pope who realised early on they both had there work cut out today and would have to be on top of there game to keep Alphington at bay.

The first Alphington attack came by way of the left flank, two poor clearances from the Dawlish defence saw the Alphington striker play a neat square ball across the box to the unmarked No. 10, his shot going way over the bar only because of a Jamie Middleton timely intervention just doing enough to put the striker of his stride.

Dawlish were having limited success going forward but for a super ball out of defensive from Max Armitage finding Luke Morgan free, only Luke's first touch letting him down on this occasion.

The disciplined Dawlish team managed to soak up all the early pressure and slowly started to gain some impetus with Jack Wills coming into play with some excellent work down the left, but the first Dawlish chance came by way of the Alphington goalkeeper his kick going straight into the path of Mathew Ranger who's slick early forward pass putting through the now busy Luke Morgan, his shot just being tipped around the post by the goalkeeper making amends for his earlier mistake.

Dawlish were now gaining in confidence and there attacks coming with a speedy momentum, the next chance coming from constant pressure resulting in a poor clearance from the Alphington defence, the loose ball coming to Mathew Ranger his quick ball back into the box finding the unmarked Jack Wills, his tremendous shot on the turn only just off target and hitting the side netting.

Dawlish were firmly in control now with every player showing commitment and wanting to be involved , but this time it was Max Armitage's turn to split the Alphington defence wide open, a good interception mid park, with two strides forward followed by a peach of an out step pass almost putting Luke Morgan through clear on goal.

Dawlish were now hungry for there first league goal and it wasn't long in coming, it was end to end super football starting with a goal kick from Harvey Hannaford, his kick not controlled by the Alphington defender and falling to the feet of the waiting Max Armitage, his swift square ball to the in space Mathew Ranger followed by a quick first time forward ball to the feet of the facing Luke Morgan, his perfect lay off to the oncoming Jamie Middleton, who finished off this fantastic move in style with a looping shot over the keepers head and dipping under the crossbar, Dawlish go 1 up.

Alphington had no intention of giving up the fight and why should they, the game was still there for the taking and they were still well and truly in it, from the restart the pendulum started to swing in there favour,  Dawlish once again found themselves under pressure, only the ever safe hands of Harvey Hannaford who never fails to amaze with some outstanding saves kept Dawlish from losing the advantage, in this period he produced the quick reaction save of the day, the ball came loose just inside the Dawlish penalty area and falling perfectly for the Alphington striker to hit a low hard drive, Harvey took one step forward to narrow the angle and produced the perfect block save and stopping an almost certain goal for Alphington, but the constant pressure lead to Alphington being open at the back yet again, and it was a Dawlish counter attack that lead to there second goal, it was Luke Morgan again taking the ball to the right, his low sliding cross into the area found the waiting Jack Wills to tap in at close range, Dawlish go 2 up

Alphington still took every opportunity they could to go forward, desperately looking for a goal to put them back in contention and they would have been if not for Harvey Hannaford who was called into action yet again with a brilliant save, the score line would have read differently without him.

But it was the same story for Alphington there attacking style of play left them vulnerable to the counter and open at the back, Luke Morgan was now finding himself with so much space up front, this space lead to his first goal to add to his two assists, a perfectly placed through pass from Sam Wright straight into the stride of Luke who made no mistake with hitting a crisp shot wide of the keeper leaving him rooted to the spot. Dawlish go 3 up.

As the first half came to a close Alphington must have thought it just wasn't going to be there day gifting the fourth goal to Dawlish ,a poor mishit goal kick from the Alphington keeper going straight to the feet of Jamie Middleton, his first time shot going straight into the Alphington open goal, Dawlish go 4 up.

Dawlish may have thought the second half would be just a stroll in the park for them, they soon found out this wasn't going to be the case, Alphington must be applauded for there determination and team spirit, not only did they come out for the second half with there heads held high but continued where they had left off with open attacking football, and more important a belief that they could still win this game,  The fresh legs of Tommy Saint was introduced to tighten the midfield in place of Luke Morgan who had earned a well deserved rest .

Again it was end to end entertaining football both teams giving as good as they got and producing some wonderful one touch football, no way did Alphington look like a team 4 nil down, this soon showed when they produced the move of the game, it came via there star player of the day ( no. 11 ) his close control always keeping the Dawlish defence busy and on there toes, after an eight pass Alphington attack , broken down by the tireless Jamie Middleton, the ball came loose to the Alphington midfield ( no 9 ) his first time pass to the forward running no. 11, who then turned Sam Wright one way then Jack Arnold the other, leaving them both in his wake, only then thwarted by the legs of goalkeeper Harvey Hannaford producing another fine save .

Dawlish also had there moments, one coming from a Tommy Saint high through ball finding Sam Wright clear and through, only just having the ball whipped away from him just as he was lining up his shot.

The energy sapping weather never once stopped the teams from continuing to produce some excellent football in the second half unfortunately for Alphington the game was won in the first half, and if football were a game of 2 halves they definitely shared the spoils in the second period, there effort never faltered right to the final whistle.

On another day any one of 6 players could have won the Man of the Match award, but today it came down to two outstanding performances the first being Harvey Hannaford, his suburb saves really did keep us one step ahead today, but my man of the match today was Luke Morgan his goal and 2 assist's in the first half really put Dawlish in the driving seat, he is starting to enjoy the extra space provided from the larger pitch.

Exwick 3 - 3 Twyford

Exwick Youth started there under 11s campaign in division 1 with a bare 9 players with very late withdraws from the squad against a big and good Twyford Spartans side.

Exwick playing on superb facilities at there new headquarters in Exeter Civil Service fc started off very slow going in half time 3-0 down, end of... After stern words at half time the Exwick lads got together and put in a performance in the 2nd half of true togetherness and fighting spirit to eventually draw the game 3-3. And in the end unlucky not to win.

But a fair result played in great spirit. Skipper Ollie Baker got the ball rolling for Exwick, then after constant pressure on the Twyford goal a corner from Callum May was flicked in by the debutant and honest working Connor Roberts.

With 5 minutes to go Daniel Foweraker punished some sloppy defending by Twyford to score a well deserved equaliser. Defender PJ Doran was Exwick's starman with strong and determined performance throughout.

Twyford Spartans U11's 4 vs Brixington Utd U11's 2

On a bright and breezy morning United produced a great display against a very skilful Spartans side before slipping to a narrow defeat. Spartans took an early lead when United failed to clear a loose ball in the box which was fired home by the Spartans forward. United where struggling to shrug off their long journey to Tivvy, but then suddenly came to life as Ryan Ellis' shot found the back of the net for the equaliser. United then produced some great flowing football. First, Ellis stung the keepers hands with a fierce shot after being set up by a good exchange of passes between Luke Bland and Sam Skinner.

Several powerful Bland runs enabled United to turn defence into attack quickly as the game flowed from end to end. Owen Corrick again tested the keeper with a good shot and a Robert Crole lob just cleared the bar. Spartans were proving very dangerous on the break and their forwards combined well to create several chances. Keenan Paver normally a threat going forward, had to work hard defensively to help keep Spartans own flying winger under wraps. On a hard pitch controlling the ball was proving tricky, but the dependable George Mears and Josh Phillips worked hard to keep the Spartans at bay. Just before half time however Spartans regained the lead when a shot from the edge of the box eluded the unsighted Maunder in the United goal. Maunder then produced a fine brave save to prevent Spartans adding a third.

This close encounter continued to produce chances in the second half. Lewis Miller battled to win a loose ball and his pass found Keenan Paver whose goal bound shot was blocked by some brave defending. It was Spartans however who extended their lead, when a smart shot from the edge of the box flew into the far corner. United refused to give up and Robert Croles long range effort smacked the bar before bouncing to safety. A few minutes later Crole found his range, his superb shot flew into the top corner to reduce the arrears. United continued to attack for the equaliser and a great run and cross by Joe Walker was almost turned in by Owen Corrick. Jake Sharp's long clearance almost put Miller through, but Spartans defended stoutly. It was Spartan's who sealed victory when a clever short corner and cross was headed in at the far post to bring a very skilful, entertaining and sporting game to a conclusion.

Beacon Knights 2 - 1 Brixington Utd

Despite playing their best football of the season United paid the price for numerous missed chances in this very unlucky defeat. Owen Corrick gave Utd a first half lead. Keenan Paver ran from inside his own half before unleashing a fierce shot which cannoned back off a post and Corrick fired home the rebound.

A Ryan Ellis lob from 20 yards was excellently saved by the Knight's keeper who tipped the ball over the bar. United's passing was a joy to watch and they created numerous chances. A slick break involving Ryan Ellis, Sam Skinner and Owen Corrick ended with Corrick's shot being bravely blocked by Knights keeper.

A great run and cross by Luke Bland saw Corrick slashing his shot just wide. With Josh Phillips and George Mears defending brilliantly Utd continued to press forward in the form of the excellent Robert Crole and Ryan Ellis. Keenan Paver was also back to his best using his devastating pace down the wing. Utd continued to carve up chances in the second half . A Sam Skinner shot was beaten out again by the excellent knights keeper and great crosses from Joe Walker and Keenan Paver eluded everyone when any contact would have resulted in further goals. Knights gradually started coming back into the game as Utd began to tire.

Jake Sharp in particular had to use his strength to break down the growing number of Knight's attacks. With 15 minutes remaining Knights shocked Utd with an equaliser. A Knight’s shot deflecting off the unlucky Josh Phillips and past the wrong footed Josh Maunder into the net. Utd still created chances and Luke Bland and Thomas Sicklemore both found themselves one on one with the keeper who again bravely saved their efforts. Just as it seemed Utd would have to settle for a point Knights snatched all three with 5 minutes remaining.

A cross into Utd's box found an unmarked Knights forward at the far post and he fired home the winner from close range. With a return fixture against the Knight's next week Utd know they will need to match their excellent passing, movement and skill with clinical finishing if they are to gain the victory their play deserves.

U11's Cup 2nd Rd Stoke Hill U11's 3 vs Brixington Utd U11's 4

United reached the Quarter Final's of the U11's Cup in this seven goal thriller. After a 3 month lay off without a game United quickly rediscovered their passing football, putting pressure on the Stoke Hill goal. Keenan Paver had United's first effort on goal sending a dipping shot just over the Stoke Hill bar.

A Ryan Ellis corner then caused panic in the Stoke Hill defence as a goal mouth scramble saw the ball saved on the goal line. It wasn't all one way traffic however as Josh Maunder saved smartly from a quick Stoke Hill Counter attack and shot. It was Utd however who took the lead, good work by Josh Phillips saw him gain possession down the right wing, his pass found Sam Skinner who set up Ryan Ellis to fire home from 12 yards.

Stoke Hill always looked dangerous on the break, firstly firing a shot into the side netting and then a further shot flashed just wide to put Utd on alert. However Utd had the best chances and when Ellis put his effort just wide after being put through on goal, it proved to be just a temporary let off for Stoke Hill before Utd added a second. An Ellis corner again caused problems for the Stoke Hill defence and as the ball dropped in the box Thomas Sicklemore hooked the ball into the roof of the net to extend Utd's lead.

Robert Crole and Luke Bland battled to ensure Utd dominated in midfield and when Utd added a third just before half time it appeared they were heading for a comfortable victory. The third goal also came from a dangerous Ellis corner, which was partially cleared to Lewis Miller. Miller's goal bound shot being guiding home by Josh Phillips at the far post. Phillips and George Mears kept things tight at the back for Utd to restrict Stoke Hill's attacking ambitions.

Full credit must go to a battling Stoke Hill team who never gave up. Utd started the second half slowly allowing Stoke Hill to gain confidence and gradually put pressure on the Utd goal. After Stoke Hill had pulled a goal back Utd had further chances to extend their lead. Firstly Ryan Ellis shot just wide after a powerful run from the half way line. Then Owen Corrick worked an opening down the right wing and his cross flashed in front of Thomas Sicklemore who just failed to get a vital touch.

However it was Stoke Hill who pulled a further goal back with a 30 yard wonder strike that flew past Josh Maunder in the Utd goal. Maunder then sustained an injury and was replaced by Jake Sharp in the Utd goal. Stoke Hill then set up a thrilling finish as they fired home an equaliser with a shot that wrong footed Sharp from close range. Goal mouth scrambles could have won the game at either end. But United continued to press forward and the impressive Joe Walker, making is debut, made several good runs down the left wing. With 5 minutes to go Utd scored the goal that sealed victory.

Ryan Ellis won the ball in midfield before slotting a pass through to Sam Skinner who cut in towards goal and sent a shot past the keeper and in off the far post to book Utd's place in the quarter final. This was a highly entertaining game and a credit to both teams.

An all Brixington Affair

Brixington Utd 2 vs Brixington Blues 9

It's commonly said that more is learnt from defeat than victory and United will certainly feel that after this defeat against an excellent Blues side. United trudged off at half time, having conceded seven without reply. Their performance lacking the belief and confidence so evident in previous weeks.

United more than matched their lofty opponents in the first 10 minutes, in which United forced 3 corners in quick succession. However United's confidence drained on conceding the first goal as the Blues relentlessly attacked at will. However United will also have learnt they have great character and courage. It would have been easy to have given up in the second half but United dug deep, found the self belief that had been missing in the first half and more than matched their opponents.

Ryan Ellis scored from an excellent free kick to encourage his team mates. Then Lewis Miller turned in a loose ball from a corner to add United's second and ensure a share of the second half spoils. So, if United can combined their skill and ability with this new found self belief and courage, they now know that they can compete with the best teams in their league.

Under 11s cup - Honiton Town 5 - 4 Sidmouth Raiders

 Great Game

Honiton had to work very hard to overcome a spirited Sidmouth side in what was a nail biting encounter at St Rita's.  Sidmouth from League 3 started very brightly and caused the Honiton defence no end of problems as both sides sought an early advantage.

It was the home side however, who scored first through joint Man of the Match Kyle Blackmore.  This lead to a great response from the Sidmouth lads, who scored 3 goals without reply, to lead at the break.

Honiton introduced, Benjie Cramer at half time and he added a much need injection of energy to the home side and it was his goal that reduced the deficit.  When Sidmouth scored a forth, again as a result of poor defending a shock was really on the cards.  The home side added a third striker and this seemed to change the game.

Blackmore added his second to reduce the score to 2 - 3, before Cramer equalised to the relief of the home crowd.  With the game heading for extra time, there was just time for Benjie Cramer to complete his hat-trick, sealing the win for the Honiton and in doing so earning himself a share of the Man of the Match award.

This was a great game and the players of both sides should be congratulated for their efforts, which demonstrated, everything that is good about youth football.

Under 11s Cup Competition - Heavitree Rockets 0 - 4 Brixington Utd

United delighted their management team Carl Wilson and Adam Miller by producing a sparkling display of passing football to book their place in round 2 of the Unders Cup.

The hard work in training really paid off against a determined and organised Heavitree Rockets side that fought hard to the end.  Josh Phillips opened the scoring, his blistering shot through as crowd of players could only be palmed into the roof of the net by the Rockets keeper. George Mears then regained possession with a strong challenge and his pass found Keenan Paver who surged down the left wing before crossing for Thomas Sicklemore, who just failed to get the vital touch to extend Uniteds lead.

Ryan Ellis also tested the Rockets keeper with a string of long range shots. Luke Bland worked tirelessly down the right wing supporting the attack as well as tracking back to help the defence break up any Rockets attacks. Just before the break United extended their lead when Josh Phillips chested down a Rockets clearance.

Phillips pass found Sam Skinner who slid a great ball into Thomas Sicklemore who finished clinically in the bottom corner. Uniteds third goal came early in the second half when Skinner and Owen Corrick exchanged passes before Ryan Ellis thumped home the loose ball from long range. The Rocketâ€TMs still posed a threat and a superb goal line clearance from Lewis Miller prevented the Rockets from pulling a goal back. Keeper Josh Maunder also bravely blocked another goal bound effort to maintain Uniteds clean sheet. Robert Crole, Luke Bland and Jake Sharp all worked incredibly hard defensively in the second half to keep the Rockets attacks at bay. Central started strongly and pressured the Alphington goal early in the match. However Alphington took the lead with a well taken goal from an excellent counter attacking move the full length of the pitch. The scores were levelled shortly after when a dangerous cross from the right was put into the net by the Alphington defence. Central had the best of the rest of the first half with further goals from Joe Chamberlain and Brandon Green making it 3-1 to Central at the break.

Crediton Saints U11's 1 vs Brixington Utd U11's 2

Saints took an early lead following slack marking in Utd's defence. A series of brave Josh Maunder saves helped prevent Utd falling further behind. Lewis Miller led the revival with his best display in a Utd shirt, with committed tackling and crisp passing. Sam Skinner almost equalised as the Saints keeper recovered from spilling the ball to parry his effort to safety.

The equaliser came when George Mears surged up field from defence and found Luke Bland. Bland's fine cross was expertly turned in at the near post by Owen Corrick. Keenan Paver almost gave Utd the lead when he surged into the box but pulled his shot just wide.

Utd survived a scare early in the second half when the Saints crashed a good effort against the bar. But gradually Utd began dominating play in the saints half. With 40 minutes on the clock Ryan Ellis scored the winner, picking himself up after being fouled on the edge of the box. He fired home a deflected free kick into the top corner.

Thomas Sicklemore and Josh Sharp came on in midfield to cause Saints more problems and great defending by Josh Phillips ensured Utd held on to record a hard fought victory.

Stoke Hill 0 - 6 Brixington United

Stoke Hill U11's 0 vs Brixington United U11's 6

United shrugged off last week's disappointment to produce a 5 star winning performance against a well organised Stoke Hill side. After an even opening period flying wingers Keenan Paver and Luke Bland started tormenting the Stoke Hill defence with their pace. At the other end Man of the Match Josh Phillips and defensive partner George Mears snuffed out any Stoke Hill danger will accomplished performances.

United slowed began to get on top and Ryan Ellis thumped the bar from long range after a mazy run from midfield. United took a deserved lead when Luke Bland and Sam Skinner combined before Skinner slipped the ball to Owen Corrick who fired home from close range. In the second half, Skinner extended Uniteds lead when he followed up his blocked cross into the box to score from close range. Robert Croal then set up Ryan Ellis with an inch perfect pass to fire home United's third goal. United were now well on top with Lewis Miller, Luke Bland and Jake Sharp all going close to increasing the score line. The busy Lewis Miller just failed to turn in his effort at the far post from an Ellis corner.

At the other end keeper Josh Maunder pulled off a great full length save to keep Uniteds clean sheet in tact. Another powerful Paver run set up Skinner to slid home goal number four and Ellis added a fifth after great work by Jake Sharp and Lewis Miller. Jake Sharp and Robert Croal battled brilliantly in midfield to keep the pressure up on the Stoke Hill defence.

Thomas Sicklemore then scored United's final goal with a sprint into the box before coolly finishing with an angled shot into the corner and round off a great team performance..

Saints 5 - 2 Warriors

The match was played in good conditions and Pinhoe started as the more confident team.  In the first ten minutes Bayley Smeath had a shot that went just over the bar and Dylan Thorne scored from an excellent cross soon afterwards.  Crediton quickly fought back and a carefully placed shot from a wide angle gave them the equalizer.  Pinhoe pushed forward again but could not get through the Saints' defence until Toby Goodwin managed to sweep the ball into the net just before half time.

Crediton came out strongly in the second half and within five minutes had managed a shot that was only inches wide.  Pinhoe put some good passes together at the other end but the Crediton goalkeeper kept his team in the game, saving shots from Dylan Thorne and Seb Richards.  Crediton were then awarded a free kick which was well-taken and led to a goal chipped over Paul Cranston's head.

The home team's confidence grew from this equalizer and they dominated the remainder of the game, taking the lead a few moments later.  They then scored from the penalty spot and although there was a spirited drive forward by Pinhoe culminating in a shot by Oliver Rowe, it was well-saved by the Crediton keeper.  Pinhoe's fate was sealed in the final moments of the game when the Crediton striker sent the ball whizzing past the defence to score their fifth goal.

The final score was Crediton Saints 5 Pinhoe Warriors 2.
