Sidmouth Warriors U10's did exactly what the coaches asked of them giving 100% commitment and playing their passing game against decent opposition. 

Against  a tough Beacon Knights side in the first game the Warriors battled and began to take control in a very tight first half with few chances. In the second half the passing game saw the Warriors dominate with the midfield of Harris , Jarrett and Lowe creating a number of chances. A quick taken corner after some clever thinking by the Warriors enabled Harris to fire a shot in from 20 yards which smashed the crossbar and came back out for Jarrett to head home a deserved lead. The Warriors continued to press for the second as their passing continued to create chances but 3 minutes from time Beacon Knights scored a breakaway goal to equalise and try as they might the Warriors couldn't force a winner. 

The Warriors took their excellent performance in the first game into their second game against Newton Knights. It took just 2 minutes to show what their passing game is all about with a great move involving Harris and Gosse who set up Buckland to score a classic volley from 7 yards. Further goals from Woodruff, Harris and Gosse gave Warriors a 4-0 half time lead. Position changes at half time saw goalkeeper Pugsley playing up front with Hayman playing in goal and Mead in defence on his own. This didn't alter Warriors game and they continued to impress despite not adding to their goal tally from the first half, Jones having the clearest chance saved by the impressive Knights keeper.

Culm   1  v  Heavitree Inter  1 

1st half 

Culm had first shot on goal with a pass from Kieran to Evan but a good save by Inter's goalie denied Culm a goal.Culm then had a corner with a good header from Conner saved.Then came the goal that Culm had been fighting for with a miss kick from the goalie which was  jumped on by Evan who slotted it into the net.Culm strung some great passes together and also some good strong headers 

2nd half 

A goal from Inter when they battled hard and put some good passes together with a good shot which Elliot was a bit late diving for.Culm carried on battled and should have had some more goals but Inter defended well .The game turned into a even match with both sides playing some good flowing football. 

Culm   2  v  Heavitree A C  0 

1st half 

Culm started strong and kept playing some good football Harry was strong in defence so was George. The first goal came with a string of passes from Billy to Conner who laid it on for Evan who placed it strongly into the back of the net.

2nd Half 

This half was as much as the first with Culm having several good chances on goal but the second goal came with Evan capitalising on a mistake by the the goalie to header it into the net.

HONITON 1 - 1 AC HEAVITREE

In the first few minutes there was not much to separate the two sides. That was until a long shot from Honiton rattled Jasper's right post. A quick counter attack almost put Jack Hector through for a goal but he drove it wide. AC started to pass well, leading to a goalmouth scramble in which Heavitree were unlucky not to go ahead. Then, perhaps against the run of play, AC conceded an own-goal from a long Honiton throw-in and at half time AC Heavitree were 1 - 0 down.

In the second half Heavitree pressed hard for an equaliser. Good passing moves put Jack Kennedy into a lot of good positions but all of the chances were driven wide or sky-high. Honiton countered a few times, and Luke Matthews and Arron Hollwell needed to stay alert in order to clear the ball away from Jasper's goal. But AC's gallant midfield, including Alex Green and Jack Smith, continued to combine well with strikers Jack Hector and Jack Kennedy, and shots seemed to rain down on the Honiton goal, forcing many spectacular saves. Finally, all the hard work paid off, as a flurry of shots ended in a deflection into the path of Jack Kennedy for an easy tap-in. Despite more pressure, Heavitree were unable to make further progress, and the two teams shared the points at the end of the game.

CULM 2 - 0 AC HEAVITREE

An early Culm attack saw Jasper save a powerful shot with his legs and the AC defence had to work hard to chase down loose balls in and around the AC penalty area from the outset. After absorbing pressure from Culm for some minutes, AC went forward, only for a long ball from the Culm midfield to find one of their strikers face-to-face with Jasper. Without hesitation the striker poked the ball past Jasper and Culm were 1 - 0 up. Culm continued to pile on the pressure for the rest of the first half, and Heavitree were forced to get everybody back behind the ball for some long periods.

In the second half, Culm again saw most of the chances, while AC battled hard to keep them at bay. Then Heavitree found themselves for a while, with a return to their passing game. The game was finely balanced with chances at both ends of the pitch. Jack Smith seemed to have boundless energy in midfield, and played a part in several Heavitree attacks. At the back, Luke Matthews used a lot of determination and skill to obstruct Culm opportunities in open-play. However, in the end a Culm corner led to a headed goal from short range to make it 2 - 0. This renewed Culm's confidence and AC were forced back into a defensive game for the last few minutes.

Despite battling well, AC were not able to meet Culm's well-organised and determined style, and there were no grumbles about the final scoreline.

Heavitree MOTM - Luke Matthews.

Match 1 

A really committed display from an excellent United team who defended well throughout. Pinhoe soaked up United's attacks and came forward forcefully, only to be met by the twin rocks of William Gregory and Alex Pinskey, and the dramatic shot-stopping skills of Will Wenley. Good running up front by a rejuvenated George O'Brien, and a busy Thomas O'Donnell, helped relieve some pressure. The game was also noteworthy for a Pinskey special that will live long in the memory! So a game that United never looked like winning but nevertheless an effort for which they all should be congratulated. 

Match 2 

This game was a bit of a drop in standards from the 1^st one - although United came within a whisker of stealing a point. Talie Metcalfe-Wood looked to be really enjoying himself in this game and rounded off an enjoyable morning for all concerned when he equalised midway through the first half, so breaking United's 2010 duck. Luke Perry also deserves mention for the way he overcame his first half disappointment and knuckled down to some wholehearted defending. Well done boys.

Crediton 1 v Stoke Hill Celtic 1.

A draw was a fair result in a game of very few chances. Dan Hodges slammed the ball in from the edge of the penalty area to give Stoke Hill Celtic the half time lead.

Crediton pushed hard for an equaliser in the second half & Stoke Hill Celtic keeper John-Morgan Ross made a great save from a free kick.

Crediton finished the game with a succession of corners & in the 6th minute of injury time scored a deserved equaliser when a scrambled goal went in off Stoke Hill Celtic defender Dan Hodges.

Tedburn 0 v Stoke Hill Celtic 1.

A game of very few chances was decided when Stoke Hill Celtic's Dan Hodges poked the ball in from close range for an opportunist finish.

The scoreline flattered Stoke Hill Celtic & Tedburn deserved at least a draw. Tedburn were well organised in defence and created good chances, making it difficult for Stoke Hill Celtic to play their usual passing game.

Culm Utd 1 v Inter Heavitree 1

Inter Heavitree started well with Harry Dolan picking out Josh Herbert whose strong run earned them the first corner. Inter maintained good pressure but were then caught on the break and the Culm striker was through one on one with Matthew Davison in goal. Matthew saved well and from the ensuing corner the header went wide. Unfortunately there was confusion from the goal kick and Matthew Davison passed straight to the a Culm Utd player who gratefully sent in a powerful shot to give them a 1-0 lead. For the remainder of the half there was little between the two sides and Heavitree could not find the goal that they needed.

In the second half Charlie Ricketts came on for his Heavitree debut and settled in well. Within minutes of the restart Jed Wright made a tremendous break down the right and sent in a pinpoint cross that Josh Herbert got to just before the chasing defender and goalkeeper to put in a deserved equaliser. Heavitree then pushed for the winner, with Matt Burchell's long throws causing problems in the Culm defence. At the other end Matt and Josh Bennett looked solid in defence and despite both teams' best efforts it finished 1-1.

Honiton 0 v Inter Heavitree 0

Taking nothing away from Honiton's performance this was a game that Inter Heavitree could and should have won. However the commitment of the Honiton defence and the heroics of their goalkeeper ensured that the points were shared. Inter Heavitree started strongly and Jed Wright had an early chance but scuffed his shot. Then a great flowing move saw Harry Dolan break through one on one with the goalkeeper but he saved well. The ball rebounded back to Jed but his strong shot hit the bar. Moments later Inter won a corner and Charlie Ricketts nearly got to it before the ball broke to Harry but the goalie saved his shot. The goalie then made a good save from Charlie to keep the scores level at the break.

In the second half Inter kept up the pressure with Tyler Davis making a great run through the centre before setting up Josh Herbert but his shot was pushed behind for a corner. Josh took the corner and the ball came back out to him before another shot was saved at the near post. As the half wore on, Honiton steadily grew into the game but Guy Geeson and Matt Burchell cleared up any danger leaving Matthew Davison little to do in goal. Jed Wright continued to look dangerous and on one occasion went on a mazy run that took him past three Honiton players before almost setting up Josh but the Honiton defender intercepted well. At the end, on the break Honiton nearly broke through before Jed, spotting the danger, came across the field to clear the ball and ensure another draw.

Tedburn St Mary v Stoke Hill Rangers   0-1
 
Stoke Hill rangers were again slowly into their stride and had to soak up some early pressure from a lively Tedburn side. Joseph Ware in goal again kept Rangers in the game in the first half to take it to the whistle at 0-0. An inspired substitution by the Rangers Manager saw him bring on Rueben Alabaidi at the start of the second half and this seemed to inspire the Rangers boys and spur them on. From this point they virtually controlled the game and their reward soon came. A good ball from Timon Brown put Jordan Sandford through and he confidently slotted past the Tedburn keeper. With some solid defending and midfield being bossed by Rueben Alabaidi, Rangers hung on for a desrved win.

Crediton v Stoke Hill Rangers   2-3
 
For once Rangers started where they had left off in the first game. Crediton had come to win this game but with spme slick movement and passing Rangers soon saw themselves   1-0 to the good with a great finish by Rueben Alabaidi. Crediton pressed hard but Rangers defence was solid and at the break Rangers were looking in command.The second saw both sides pushing hard but it was that boy Rueben Alabaidi that again made the break through after 3 quick passes from the back saw Rueben again find the back of the net. Crediton pulled one back mid way through the second half.

Rangers had to soak up some pressure as this had lifted Crediton, but 4 minutes from the end up popped Rueben Alabaidi to seal his hat-trick and at this point Rangers seemed to have the game sewn up, but a late 2nd for Crediton made it a tense finish for all concerned. Fortunately the whistle came quick enough for Rangers to run out deserved winners in what was an excellent game.
