Dawlish United concluded they league campaign with a fine team display and great finishing against a well organized and determined Alphington side.
The game kicked off with Jamie Middleton, immediately taking a great strike going just wide. It was a good start for Dawlish, as they were determined to win their last game of the season. Goalkeeper Harvey Hannaford made a few good saves after a couple slip up's with of Dawlish's. But within a few minutes a great overhead pass from Corie Cleave sets up Jamie Middleton to score with a great volley going right to the back of the net. Max Armitage made some good runs and there was some good work in midfield.
A few moments later a great pass from Middleton sets Jack Wills up with a half volley going straight to top corner! It was a brilliant goal from Wilsy! The team at this stage were showing some great passes and some strong defending. Corie Cleave was unlucky not to score with a good effort which saw the ball going just over. His determination paid off following some great defending by Nathan Rowland and Nick Langley-Pope who sent a long ball up to the top of the pitch for Corie Cleave, to score a great goal
Half time and the boys are pretty pleased with their performance so far. The whistle blows again and their back on the pitch, but unfortunately they lost concentration allowing Alphington to score. However the boy's heads stayed high and they bounced back through Jamie Middleton with another goal, making it 4-1 the Dawlish boys. A great result for the last game of the season for the Dawlish boys and well done to Alphington who kept battling throughout.
t was to be a frustrating game for United on this wonderful sunny spring day.
The match started evenly and was very scrappy in places, neither team dominated possession, but it was United who had the majority of chances in the first half.
Cody Rackley was unlucky to see his header from a corner tipped over by the Brixington keeper, and then another header hit the crossbar. Luke Morgan and Corie Cleave were menacing up front but just couldn't get the ball into the back of the net.
In Midfield Jamie Middleton, and Max Armitage continued to create chances for their forwards, with Jack wills holding the ball up well, to allow Luke Morgan and Corie Cleave to push forward. The Dawlish defence looked tidy and organised in first half with Nick Langley-Pope holding the central defender role and protecting his keeper well.
Another great chance for United came when Sam Wright flicked a lovely chipped pass to Max Armitage, Max fed a well weighted pass through to Corie Cleave, Corie struck the ball well, but again it was the Brixington keeper who pulled off a fine save to deny United.
Second half saw much of the same, with United unable to capitalise on their chances. Yet again the Brixington keeper pulled off another great save when Corie Cleave hit a shot hard and low, the keeper some how managed to flick the ball over the bar.
As United pushed forward they became more susceptible to getting caught on the counter. Brixington looked more menacing in the second half, with United beginning to make some basic errors in defence. Against the run of play it was Brixington who were to take the lead, when some scrappy defending from United allowed a Brixington forward to knock the ball into the net.
Brixington's confidence improved after this goal, and the United heads dropped, two more goals came for Brixington. The second goal was from a corner which the United defence failed to deal with, and the third was a scrappy goal in which United's keeper was unable to keep hold of the ball, allowing the Brixington forward to finish.
United should have been two or threes goals up after the first half, but credit must be given to Brixington who defended well , and capitalised on their goal scoring opportunities in the second half, with a noteworthy performance from the Brixington keeper.

Central 1 - 2 Alphington
The Jets lined up against a new look Central City on a beautiful day for football. Charlie Ewart scored for the second week in a row putting the Jets 1 - 0 up but Central battled back to make it 1 - 1 at half time. In the second half Central City won a penalty which was sent high over the bar.
The Jets won an indirect free kick in the penalty area with the touch from Charlie Khan saw Olly Johnson slot neatly away to make it 2 - 1. With chances on both sides the game could have gone either way. A special mention to Will Bentley who for the third game in a row acting a stand in keeper with the Jets regular keeper Jack Bunclark stranded in the US due to the volcano.
