Heavitree 3 - 3 Culm Falcons

A bright sunny evening saw the potential League Champions visit Heavitree.
The game started with both teams passing well and enjoying chances to score but it was Heavitree who took the lead on 9 mins with Matthew Burrough breaking down the left and letting fly with a great finish into the top right corner that the Culm keeper could get no where near.
Culm continued to pass well and created several chances and were rewarded on 22 mins with the equilizer. The half looked to be ending level but on 30 mins Josh Jays scooped the ball over about 4 Culm players to put lewis through who calmly put the ball through the keepers legs to make it 2-1 to Heavitree at the break.
The second half started with good play from both teams but Heavitree extended thier lead on 45 mins through a fantastic strike from Josh Perris from just past the half way line making it 3-1 to Heavitree.
At 3-1 Heavitree looked comfortable but that soon changed as about a minute later Culm got thier second with a smashing strike to make it 3-2.
Three minutes later Culm got their third and the equilizer with what looked like a possible own goal but never the less the score was tied at 3-3 with 10 mins remaining. The last minutes saw Culm pressure for the winner although Heavitree still had chances as well butpossibly a fair result in the end was the draw.
Well done to both sets of players for providing a very entertaining game and a good spectacle for youth football.
Special mention to the referee Rob Wilmott who judged the game to the best of his ability and was as fair as anyone could be in what we all appreciate is a very difficult job to do at any level.
Final well done to the Heavitree lads for finishing off a very satisfactory season.
