Falcons Win With Style
Avishayes Falcons were away to Hemyock on Saturday for their twelfth league match of the season, it was a dry morning but the pitch was extremely heavy under foot. Hemyock were in control for the first 15 minutes of play and were unlucky not to have scored at least one goal.
The Falcons finally got started when Andre Anjos opened the score with a powerful drive from close range, this was followed by two long range goals from Ieuan Watkins and another by Anjos to give Falcons a 3-0 lead at the interval.
Hemyock tried to fight back in the second half with an early goal but
2 further Falcons goals from Harry Morris and Owen Ladd took the match beyond their reach. The Falcons Players-of-the-Match awards were won by Matty Bawler and Ieuan Watkins.
Under 12s - League Cup Rnd 2 - Avishayes Falcons: 2 - 3 Crediton Saints After Extra Time
Falcons go down fighting in Cup
Third division Avishayes Falcons welcomed first division Crediton Saints to Combe St Nicholas Football Club on Saturday for the second round of the League Cup. It was a blustery morning as the match kicked-off and it soon became obvious that it was going to be a very even contest. The Falcons were playing into wind but despite this they opened the scoring after Harry Morris converted an inch-perfect cross by Andre Anjos from the right wing. Saints soon came back at them and scored 2 goals by half-time.
The Falcons were playing with the wind in second half and after sustained pressure on the Saints defence, Anjos scored a deserved equaliser. It was 2-2 at full time so the match went into extra-time, it was dead-locked right to almost the final whistle when Saints snatched a winner from a free-kick on the edge of the Falcons box.
