Heavitree Harriers V CS Pumas
Heavitree were hosts of the first set of games in the season under the rulings of the under 7's matchday format. Heavitree started their games playing CS Pumas, Heavitree found their stride quickly with some nice passing up-field, pressing on towards the 'Puma's' defence, who showed potential and ability at the back, staying strong and clearing the ball. Heavitree only repeated their own hard work with a series of shots which were only denied by the post, the keeper and the defence. 'Puma's' efforts reflected Heavitree's with some nicely mirrored play up-field which was only denied by Heavitree keeper, Harrison Lowrie and the strengths of Harvey Dorothy in defence.
Second half, and 'Heavies' powered on battling their way through 'Pumas' strong midfield. Some nice passing opened an opportunity for Harry Fawkes first goal for Heavitree, finished well in the bottom corner. CS Puma's only fought back with their sheer effort not giving up and were rewarded with a level result, knocking the ball into the goal. The game pursued with both teams looking for the win, that never came with some fierce defending from both ends. CS Puma's and Heavitree shared a game well deserved of a draw with even amounts of passion and dedication from the players.
'Heavies' MOTM Harrison Lowrie showed progression in his ability as keeper as he stood as a rock in goal throughout the match keeping his eye on the ball and staying focused on the line. 'Puma's' goal against him only raised his confidence in goal with his firm saves and stoppages dead on the line. Harrison's goalkicks only improved each time and became more directed towards the Heavitree players up the field.
Heavitree Harriers V Feniton
Heavitree switched players and came out prepared for their second game with Feniton. A debue game for Jack Hudson and Daniel Hall showed them to be vital defenders needed within the game, both finding space in their positions and clearing the ball well when Feniton were on the attack. Feniton pursued their efforts, however Heavitree clicked and found themselves working with one another as a team and as a result came out on top with the opening goal drilled into the back corner of the net.
Heavitree pursued with their beat result, so far this season, finding their stride within the second half, communicating in the centre of the field and feeding the ball through for a well deserved second goal. 'Heavies' found their passing ability down the wing and the centre of the field playing the ball to one another and rotating, searching for the space. Edward James found his capabilities as a player and came out working alongside Thomas Smith opening up opportunities to take shots at goal only to have them rejected by the efforts of Feniton's keeper.
'Heavies' MOTM Harry Fawkes found two well placed goals, but denyed from a Heavitree hat-trick when a knock to the knee forced him off for the remainder of the second half. Harry showed determination as a striker finding the ball every time, pursuing on the run and finishing all his well struck shots, only to be denied of one, bouncing just wide of the post.
Heavitree Harriers V Exeter Panthers
A familiar encounter with local side Exeter Panthers saw the last game of the morning for the 'Heavies'. From the start Heavitree put all efforts in getting the ball up-field only to be denied early on by the strong individual players of the 'Panthers' side. Exeter Panthers pressed upon Heavitree's defence who battled hard in clearing the ball. With a rebound, 'Panthers' managed to successfully clear Heavitree's defence and take the shot, which was rewarded with a goal.
Exeter Panthers pace and speed took on Heavitree's newly formed defence and came out on top receiving another couplet of goals within five minutes, not before battling over the ball in a combination of 'scrappy' passes and clearances involving several players from each team. Heavitree never gave up on the battle and some nice play around the 'Panthers' players saw their clean sheet taken from them. A nice ball passed from the centre directly to 'Heavies' striker Harry Fawkes saw it cleanly taken down the middle of goal.
Heavitree's MOTM Joe Rose positioned himself well and rose to the challenge in defence. The dedication was reflected in all three stood strong at the back, where they never gave up their role within the game, pursuing their level and ability consistently. Joe came out on top with his 100% effort and focus on the opposition, standing his ground and showing great clearances of the ball and finding his fellow team-mates.
