This was a newly formed team this season with only a few of the lads playing for other clubs at under 7 level. They trained well and looked to be a good side. Their first two games were away fixtures, where they were very unlucky to lose the first game right at the death, but they showed good reponse by winning the second game in style and proved their capabilities.
After this they then went on to win more games in a row, scoring plenty of goals on the way, but what was more pleasing on the eye was their ability to pass the ball and work as a team. The lads lost their next game, totally against the run of play, but they learnt from this and grew stronger.
The lads have played the whole season with smiles in abundance and have really enjoyed playing the lovely game.
Looking forward to competitive football next season as the lads can't wait to get into a league table.
BEST GAME: Against whipton youth at culm united's ground. Cracking game to watch!!
A really promising first season, for a set of Stoke Hill boys who have never played together before. With special thanks to my assistant Manager Darren Hepburn who without his help weekly in coaching and team selection, plus assistance on match days would have made my job extremely hard.
All the parents have played a part with a good team spirit and real feeling we can build on our successes this year in a proper league and cup format next season.
Player Highlights
JACK TUCKER - Totally fearless goalkeeper, who instructs his defence, and has gained a reputation as a penalty shot stopper, saving three penalties in his first season as GK.
JAMES BUTLER - Happy in defence or Midfield, good dribbling skills and ability to get into the right place to score some really valuable goals when it matters scoring 3 goals from midfield.
TRIS HOWE - Known as ‘Jaap Stam' to the team, a virtual ever present and very reliable last man in deefnce for Stoke Hill who has grown into a good right back and tackler.
CONNOR HEPBURN - Versatile in Defence or in Goal, good shot stopper with great quick distribution upfield, alternatively when in right defence has ability to get stuck in and not afraid to head the ball to clear.
HARRY TAYLOR - A great find, a left foot which at times looks like the ball is glued to his foot, fierce tackler, who was a virtual ever present in left defence, keen to run down the flanks with the ball and put in some telling crosses, plus two valuable goals this season.
CODY BARNETT - A late find but a revelation in recent games, only player to be happy kicking with either foot, and really growing into the defensive role given, won in my view two man of the match awards in games this season.
FINTAN MEADOWS - Left or right midfield and ability to run with the ball and be unselfish at the same time, a good team player who is growing with every game.
CALLUM MILLAR-OSHEA - The ‘Man Utd Ronaldo' of the team, some great close dribbling skills and virtual ever present in right midfield this season, has ability to dribble down the line and cross the ball right footed while also scoring 3 valuable goals.
SAM CREES - Our play anywhere Man, versatile player with a good right foot and tenacious tackler who has habit of being in the right place at the right time with 4 valuable goals including the winner against Whipton.
CONNOR McANDREWS - The team Skipper who has played his heart out for the team this season, a ferocious right foot and good dribbler, has played in the ‘Stevie G' Central Midfield role and ended up as leading goal scorer with 22 goals, and many long range shot scores plus 2 goals from corners kicks.
ETHAN FLANAGAN - A great little player, with a good first touch, turn of speed to pass players and fierce right foot shot, started primarily in forward role, but really happy to have freedom in centre midfield, 19 goals this season, virtually one the game against Central United when stuck at 2 all with two brilliant individual goals from the halfway line.
JAMIE GREEN - A predator and very cool goal scoring forward with ability to now look up and pass to colleagues, great right foot and 17 goals this season for us.
OLIVER EVANS - A skilful forward or midfielder with ability to turn on a sixpence and score goals often with his own individual dribbling skills, primarily played up this season in the Under 9S, but when he has played at his Under 8 level, he was pivotal in us winning our first two games of the season against Tiverton and Culm United with 6 goals and when asked playing back in defence.
HARRY BATY - good tackler and a right foot, unselfish and growing into the team game, versatile and can play in defence or midfield.
ZAC DUNSTAN - Comes alive in a game situation and when used has always scored a goal, good tackler with a nice right foot likes to play upfront.
ANDY DODD - good little defender who has grown to listen and build his game skills with a good right foot shot and heading ability from defence.
- One for the future, with Euans age only used in friendlies, but scored two great individual goals in friendly against Crediton with a celebration to match, good dribbler and fierce right foot, will be an asset to the Under 8 team next season.
- Another youngster, only used in friendlies, but has a good first touch and turning speed with the ball, one for the future and will come of age next season when a regular in the new under 8 team.
ABRAHAM ALABAIDI - One for the Under 8s next season, used in one friendly against Crediton, and shone in right midfield role.
Thank you to everyone associated with Stoke Hill, for a great first season, I am sure we can build on this next year at Under 9s level. Also thanks to Dave Evans and Paul Ross at Stoke Hill Under 9 level for their support and guidance this year in my first season of management with Darren.
Paul Howe - Manager - STOKE HILL JUNIORS Under 8S.
Sidmouth Town Raiders U8's had a very promising season being their first season together as a team with players only being six years old and upwards. The raiders played excellent football, showing great commitment to training and games.
Sidmouth town raiders u8's players highlights

Oran Bramble - a very great defender, never pulls out of a tackle and a good header of a football.
Ben Goodier - a defender who always look good with the ball at his feet and a good range of passing ability.
Louie Stamp - a defender who has come a long way this season, showing great promise as a defender.
Luke Spiller - a great right footed player who has adjusted to be first choice left winger, great at dribbling.
Jacob Rice - a central midfielder with a great footballing brain, spots a pass and can pass a ball to where it needs to go. Good all round footballer.
Jordan Fowler - a right winger who has the ability to dribble the ball down the wing and to supply good crosses, also takes good set pieces.
Scott Gibson - a midfielder who has developed into a good player as the season has gone on. Always committed to the team.
George Lowe - a midfielder who always gives his best. Great in a tackle and plays well for the team.

Robert Fowler - manager - Sidmouth Town Raiders u8's
A great first season for the alphington lions we won more games than we lost, suffered some heavy defeats but also dished out some.
The boys have been a pleasure to teach,(most of the time) a very enjoyable first season with some great victories on the way. looking forward to next season already when hopefully the FA will let us publish the results. A big thank you to Neil for helping me and also to the parents who have been very well behaved ,(most of the time). ANDY ELLIS
An unforgettable season! For most of the boys it was their first taste of ‘proper' league football, but they played like they'd been together for years: fantastic team spirit, a great sense of fun and, above all, an astonishing passion for football.
The combination of a lovely, passing style of play, a skilful, dynamic midfield, fearsome tackling, a truly outstanding defence and some deadly finishing have made this an impressive side to watch. Add to that their determination and fearlessness against often much bigger opponents (many of our lads are on the titchy side) it's not surprising they've been hard to beat!
More than anything, though, the Warriors are footballers through & through, turning up every Saturday morning sunshine, rain or frost, with a smile on their faces and ready to give their all because they love it. They are a very cheeky bunch too. It's been a privilege to be involved.
The Squad: Josh Allen, William Ashby, James Emmett, Toby Garrick, Jay Harris, Archie Marchant, Jack Miller, Ben Plowden, Lucas Richardson, Louis Spalding
